help: installing type s strut bar
i did a search and came up with no luck..i came across that you might have to screw it where the springs are...but something is blocking the holes...did somebody ever come across this problem..what did you guys/gals do?
Perhaps Dream's prelude and type-s strut bar are different from the ones I've seen (or from the one shown in the Helm's manual for that matter), but with mine there's no way the holes in the type-s strut bar could possibly fit the separation spacing of the shock thread bolts. The Neuspeed bar (and probably most or all aftermarket bars) does attach to the shock thread bolts so that may be why Dream assumed the Honda strut bar would also do so.
The picture in the Helm's manual (it's in picture accompanying the portion showing how to re-install a strut/shock but not, oddly, in the picture accompanying the portion showing how to remove a shock/strut) seems to show fairly clearly that the Honda strut bar needs to be screwed down to holes in-between two of the shock thread bolts. There should be little pieces of what appear like round, black, plastic tape over the holes where the type-s strut bar needs to mount and you should have received four bolts, nuts, etc. with your Honda strut bar to use in those holes.
So I think I know where it's supposed to mount (the type-s strut bar holes align perfectly with the holes Honda covered up with tape), but when I peel back the tape there appears to be something partially intruding into the space where the strut bar's nuts will need to sit. If you figure out how to do this before I do (and it's been pouring for weeks in my area), PLEASE post a follow-up in this thread...

if you are installing the type S bar on a non-JDM suspension (JDM SUS = Mugen, honda access, and i think the tanabe sustec) you are going to need separate bolts that bolt up to the body of the car in two different mounting points that are NOT the threads that all the other STB's bolt onto.
specialque...would i be able to bolt the type s bar where the plastic black covers are.....as slude stated: I think I know where it's supposed to mount (the type-s strut bar holes align perfectly with the holes Honda covered up with tape), but when I peel back the tape there appears to be something partially intruding into the space where the strut bar's nuts will need to sit...whats the solution from here thanks..custom mounts????
i too have the same problem and gave up until i actually work with my suspension but for now my strut bar has been sitting around the house for almost a year. how much did u get ur strut bar for?

$150?!?!?!?!?!? omg ic umm do u knoe wat shocks the type s lude have cuz i went to japan in search for parts but i couldnt find n e thing and only ended up wit a strut bar and a grounding kit. but my strut didnt come with the bolts. do u think u can post a pic of ur bolts and strut bar.
You peel back the Black tape, the stuff you see blow the holes are the current Strut mounts, all you need is one of two things. First the mounts from a type S ( I can get you those) or the adapter bolts so you can use it with the USDM mounts ( I have those as well) The Type S mounts are a better option but cost more and I have to get them for you, i'm out. I have the bolts at my house.
