don't know if this has been covered before but will the rsx-s replace the current type-r?

 

I read an article and spoke to Peter Cunningham about this.
His answer was that the realtime team will be adopting the rsx in one form or another as they will phase out cars no longer in production.
We'll still see type R's though as many of the independants drive them.
It would be interesting to see the type R's on the track at the same time as the RSX. Thing is though... Realtime has the $ to put into racing to insure winning whatever they are driving.
PS speedvision world challenge Touring is where you see type R's.
Supertouring is more for vipers and corvettes and stuff although you do see R's in the supertouring class as well. just not winning.

 

An interesting question... IMHO, RT will run the current ITR's until Honda decides to bring over the new ones. Why you ask? FIrst of all, even though RSX has 2.0 liter VTEC that doesn't mean that it's better under wTouring rules. If I remember the commentators talk about the difference between BMW 2.5l vs. 2.8l engines, that 2.8l engined car has to _add_ 200lbs to the curb weight as the 2.8l engine puts out more HP. So, something similar will happen to RSX w/ 2.0 liter engine. Secondly, which is just my opinion, no car can catch Peter Cunningham now... why mess with success? I'm sure they will test out the RSX, but I highly doubt it'll be in competitive form until 1-2 years... by which time the team will hopefully get their hands on RSX-typeR which is a better platform to starat out with. Actually, my evil side is saying that I would like to see ITR trash RSX-typeS on the track. hehe.
