Default Catco cat converter....sucks ***

I have had my Catco cat from Summit on only 1 month and the heat shields are rattling like *CRAZY* (louder by the day it seems). Can the heat shields be removed? What can I do? Thanks in advance

If you did a search ahead of time, you would have known that it is safe to take off the heatshields from the cat. Just don't run over a lot of dry grass.

Does it suck ***? Well, CONGRATS.

problem with the catco cats (got one on the crx) are that the heat shields are spot welded on. So they cannot be easily removed by conveniently unscrewing a few bolts.

Are you sure it is the heat sheilds? It could be the "honeycomb" material breaking off inside the cat, very common in aftermarket hi-flow cats that are cheaply made.
