I have a 90si hatch with door mounted seatbelts and they dont lock up when I test them with my hand with quick pulls of the belt. Is there anyway to adjust them so they actually work or do I need to replace parts? or should I just get a set from the junkyard?

The belts are made to lock up only when the car brakes hard, so you can't just yank really hard on them to test them.

 

I've braked hard plenty of times and the seatbelts have never locked up on me... only the tires... It's my first honda, and everyother car I've driven the hand test works with the seatbelts...

Can anyone confirm what yellowcrx1991 says? I am just weary because it could be my life on the line

 

I know what you mean, usually if I yank really quick I can get them to lock. That doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem with yours though...

 

You can always take them to your local honda dealership to have them looked at and tested, in fact I would recommened having your seatbelts done by a professional rather than yourself.
