I must ask...WHY?
I don't believe emissions will allow a swap of a motor that is any older then the body it originally came in. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

 

i just dont understand these people that want to go from DOHC to SOHC. but oh well, to each his own.

What's the point of depreciating a valuable EM1 by swapping its engine into a POS car that wll never be worth as much? Just sell the EM1 and buy a JDM engine or something.

This thread is just pure stupidity.

I was hoping so.

You may want to check with your DMV first to see whether or not it is legal in your state to have an engine that is older than the model year of the car.

There should be a few threads around here about OBD-II to OBD-I conversions; at any rate, good luck!

yup, check to make sure you can put an older motor in and then your going to have to do an OBD2 to OBD1 conversion, but It is pretty straightforward!
PS: Have you thought about a mini me swap instead???

 

well we can get the whol swap for not a lot of money so we are going to do it. Is there no knock sensor on a 00 cx? I dont know. Also, here in SC anything goes.
