imo cams on sohc engines are a waste of money. i was looking at an old super street the other day, they put a cam into a d16z6 which cost about $650 retail price and gained less than 3 hp. that 650 could've been put to better use than that imo.

I disagree with the theroy of only gaining 3 hp for a cam on a SOHC. I had a stock re-grind from JG in my old del Sol (taht I sold) but I would look into a Gude or ZEX cam. Or you cna get a stock re-grind from JG. A street/strip cam from ZEX can gain up to 12hp.

Good Luck!!

I've had firsthand experience and will agree there is some hp to be gained with the 59300. I give ZEX a

i was just using that as an example because i had seen it pretty recently. just looking around on messageboards it seems like people usually don't gain more than around 5 hp from just a cam. i've never seen a before and after dyno of just a cam. usually people put on cam gears and other mods at the same time, and still don't gain very much after all that $. anybody want to prove me wrong?

http://www.crower.com direct from Crower $325 each for a newly made cam out of a solid core. The price is the same no matter what stage you get.
However, suggest you upgrade your valve springs too if you go for a stage 2 or higher cam.
