Default legality of aftermarket steering wheel?

i was just curious if having a different steering wheel other the stock is legal (especially for CA people, since i live here)? how about ones with SRS? i was thinking of getting a '00 CTR wheel, but wasn't sure if it was legal to have one installed. thanks

If the new wheel deletes your airbag, it's illegal.

If the new wheel has an airbag, but it doesn't work, it's probably illegal.

If the new wheel has an airbag, and it works, it's most likely legal.

But if the cop knows it's not the steering wheel that came with your particular model, he'll probably give you beef about it.
