New to the Import Scene
Well first off I have never had an import car before. I have been a Mustang fan ever since I can remember. I just sold my 86 supercharged GT. I wanted to try something new so I bought a 2003 Civic SI. Is their any free mods I can do to this car? What should I start to modify first to get more power? Where would you guys start? Thanks for the help!!!

you can do the 2.4 swap. we did it on a customers car it really want that expensive. you can get the heavy *** wheels off of it and put some lighter wheels on it. or swap out the exhaust ive heard of people getting up to 20 more.
welcome to the scene.

Just be careful where you tread on both sites, as biased Honda fanboys run amock on both sites.
Reason why I listed clubrsx is that the new Si and the RSX share the same engine (k20A3), with minor differences.
As for free mods, not really a whole lot u can do besides the aforementioned airbox chop which from what I've heard doesn't do too much. Good luck and welcome

Please don't call it an 'import scene'. When I think import scene, I think car shows with bodykits and neons.
If you want performance, you want nothing to do with this. At least you came here instead of some of the other Honda ricer boards.
As for free mods:
That link to the airbox mod works pretty well. You can also adjust the throttle cable slack to get a little quicker throttle response. Otherwise, not much else you can do for free because the motors are so reliant on the ECU. There are ways to spend a few hundred here and there and really up performance (springs, 2.25" muffler b-pipe, etc) but nothing much for free anymore.
And what's wrong with lowering springs while using stock wheels? That's not rice. If you like the stock wheels, then keep them.
Oh, and please learn to drive the car before attempting a motor swap or something else that drastic. I assume you bought new because of the warranty, so respect that and just fix up what you have. While it may not be a 12 second 1/4 mile machine, it will handle a lot better and be fun to drive.

If you lower the car you'll like the look of the mudgards. Honda mudgards usually look pretty good IMO. However, yes--they do come right off with a few screws.
Pin stripe usually looks like crap though, so I don't blame you on that one.

I noticed you're in VA....check out the East Coast Honda Challenge series....www.hondachallenge.com. You're in the perfect place to meet those guys and learn from them. I was new to imports two years ago, but it bit me like a bug and I'm hooked like everyone else on this board. It's an exciting time to be here...starting to see 300hp 2.0L naturally aspirated motors creep up more and more. Welcome aboard. You're starting off on the right foot...just jump in and ask questions.
