Year of B18A Motor and ECU
Does anyone know of a way to tell the year of a motor besides the thing on the head which says 9/2? I need to know the year of my block or tranny so I can buy the right clutch. Since the 90-91 use a different clutch from the 92-93. Is there any way I can just get a clutch for the B18A and not worry about the year? I also need to know if I can find out the year of my ECU so I know if it is OBD0 or OBD1. Thanks in advance!
Look at the wire harness on the engine. Do you have an injector resistor? If so you enigne is OBD0 (90-91). The OBD1 engine harness has gray plugs on the connectors. This is another way to tell.
Check your ECU for a green plug next to a black plug. This is OBD0. The OBD1 will have one solid gray plug for the 3 ECU connector plugs.

they are wrong.. 90-93 integra is b18a and use's a cable tranny .. 94 up is a b18b and use's hydro tranny. i am not really sure how to tell the differance between a 90-91 and 92-93 b18a but i assume you could look at the tranny because the 2 different b18a's use different trannys.
As stated above, 90-93 are B18a. 90 and 91 are pre OBD and the tranny has a smaller input shaft/spline which is the same as the JDM B16. 92 and 93 are OBD1 and have a slightly larger input shaft/spline. All 90-93 are cable tranny. The year of manufacture is usually stamped in ink on the ECU. Here again, the 92 and 93 are OBD1 and have the appropriate (different) plugs.

Ok, Thanks for everyone's help. Now I need some more.
The ECU has two black and one clear plugs. The black plugs plug into the black area of the ECU and the clear one plugs into the green part of the ECU. Is this what you guys meant by the green part? The stamping on the ECU says '89.5.31....Which I guess means I have a 90. But if I go by the meathod of the stamping on the head it says 9/2. What I really need to know is the year of the block since the reason I am so concerned is b/c I need to buy a clutch. Does anyone know how to tell the year of a block? I bought the complete swap off some guy who paid some gay *** shop to do everything so he doesn't know the year either.
on him and on me. Thanks for all your guys help.

does the motor still have the wiring harness on it??? Look at the plugs they should be square and dark grey if OBD1. If there white and round there OBD0. If you dont have the harness guess gonna have to go by the engine stamping. As for the cluch your gonna have to hope for the best. I dont think the trannys have any special #s for 90-91 and 92-93. Correct me if I'm wrong though. Your ECU is OBD0 for sure though.
k .. do this .. go take a look at your tranny . and its should have a stamp on it ... it should say .. S1 or YS1 or somthing to that effect and then let us know what the stamp is.
ok .. i dont want to be responsible if im wrong cuz i have put a 90-91 clutch in a 92-93 tranny and what happened was it worked fine for probably 3 months and then the splines on the tranny striped out from the shaft of tranny .. but im goin to say this .. most info out says that ys1 is a 92-93 tranny, while s1 is 90-91 tranny. these are only for usdm motors. please dont make your decions soley on what i say but i believe this is correct. good luck

I don't see how you can put a 1990-1991 clutch disk on a 1992-1993 transmission. The 1992-1993 input spline is too big for the spline on the 1990-1991 disk. On the other hand, if you use a 1992-1993 disk on a 1990-1991 transmission, you WILL strip the spline.

oops .. sorry i wrote some nonsense ..your right .. i meant i stripped the splines inside the clutch so the tranny shaft was just spinning freely.. still have the clutch if any one cares to see.
