Crank Pulley Tool?
I know Honda sells a special tool for getting off the crank pulley. But I doubt they will have one in stock and it might be a lot of money. Do aftermarket companies make cheaper version of it or anything. I found a Moroso Crank Pulley Wrench but it doesn't look like it will hold the pulley, but rather just turn the bolt, which I can do fine with a 1/2 wrench and an extension over the handle. So I want the tool that holds the pulley. What is my best bet?
dont worry about that. Listen, i found the easiest way to undo the crank pulley bolt without breaking or harming anything. Its an old V8 trick. what you do is get a long length of nylon rope, unscrew #1 sparkplug, make sure #1 cylinder is BDC, fill the entire cylinder up packed tight with the rope. then turn the crank pulley bolt with a 1/2" drive breaker bar.
The rope doesnt compress very much and holds equal pressure across the entire piston and is soft enough not to scratch your cylinder walls. If you think it wont work, it will, and it does. Like i said, its an old V8 trick and works every time.

it might be a old proven trick, but i would rather pay for the tool, then stick anything in one of my pistons. i just changed my pulley, to a ctr one in about 10 minutes using a crank pulley tool! my .02c!

I agree with you to, spend the money and do it right the first time.

morosso also makes a crank pulley tool. you can buy it from summit racing. i just bought one after fighting with many crank bolts, i have only used it once and it works great. i paid $77 shipped from summit. the morros unit holds the crank pully in one spot while you can put a socket through the center of it and turn the bolt. if you look at the crank pully it has an octogon shape on the inside that is what the tool holds on to.
two flywheel bolts and a tranny bolt (the ones that hold the tranny to the engine) use a 1.5' screw driver. set it up so its on the top of one flywheel bolt under the under and then on the opposite side of the way you're turning is where you're gunna want the end of the screwdriver on the tranny bolt. don't hit it on any threads, and you're good to go, it all comes out in a matter of seconds. works for me, and if any of those bolts break, it shouldn't have been used in the engine anyway, ooooor you can buy a stupid tool.
its upto you.

With air, you will somtime have to have a large diameter hose for volume. I was busting my *** this weekend on one that would not come off with my compressor, so a buddy came over with his snapon 12v electric impact, Came off in 5 seconds, And i was not running a low psi on the compressor, but did have smaller hosing.
I went to Honda actually the other day to find out about that tool. Yes it most likely is an order item from any Honda dealer it was at 4 of them that I called. But the price was like $110 bucks!! And if you would see the thing its not that complex of a tool. It basically has a tooth on it and it bolts to the tranny and thats it the tooth sits in the flywheel teeth and the bolts hold it in place. I was thinking about making my own out of some thicker aluminum but I may also just use a metal plate and take it from the where the tranny bolts onto the block and to where the pressure plate bolts to the flywheel which should work as well.
I think I'm going to just get the Moroso tool from Summit now that a couple bucks came for me in the mail so I will have enough. I don't mind spending money one tools, it's worth it. Plus I'm going to be a mechanic anyway so having special tools is a plus for me.

for something like $32.95
Type in the search box "honda special tools" or "ball joint remover" Yes,
I know. you want a crank pulley. But I found it looking for a ball joint remover

vince, that would be the perfect tool for torquing down the flywheel/pressure plate bolts. everytime i do the pressure plate bolts, the flywheel spins. this will hold it in place, and cut down the chance of stripping one of those bolts!

Yeah its suppose to be for removing the crank pulley and also the flywheel/ pressure plate like you said. I still dont see spending that much on a tool that I wouldnt use that much. But yes it would be a very helpful tool thats why I think that I may try and make one like I said since I know what the basic layout of it is...
