Default what crank and cam triggers are you guys using for your standalones?

And do you have any pics? I want something a little more reliable than the reluctors, but because I'm using direct fire and sequential injection I need a cam driven signal as well as a crank signal. Any suggestions?

I'm working on one that bolts to the STR cam gear but won't be ready for awhile.

I'd be interested in one of those, after I switch to Autronic.

ive used the electromotive crank trigger on my neon. Make sure to use a sturdy sensor bracket because the vibration kept breaking it on Scott Mohler and my car. Specifically if your using steel mounts.

I have one idea for half your problems, use the cam sensor already in Honda/Acura distributors.

I use the stock stock distributor with speed pro sequential. Venom has proven they work with their civic and that's good enough for me. Talk w/ Harv he will tell you!

In order to use the honda cam sensor it is an analog signal. In most cases stand alones like autronic look for a digital signal. What you have to do is use a Reluctor interface.

Or another option, like what I am doing, is use a crank trigger with a hall effect sensor off the cam and crank.

I wonder what a piece like that runs for. I'd probably be better off fabricating something. BTW, I'm currently using the reluctors in the distributor because my Haltech has an internal reluctor adapter, works damn good too, I just don't like the reluctors due to their failure rate.

The hall effect sensors are not that much. Contact Ben Strader (EFIGUY) and see what he can set up for you.

art, good thing you aren't using the reluctor interface. there is a noticeable difference in the way the motor runs with and without the reluctor interface.

when i had the reluctor interface on the autronic it ran good, but at the time, i didnt have anything to compare it to except for the speed pro bank fire. and in that sense the autronic was a lot better.

when i started playing with motec m4 pro, which can run off the stock distributor without any adapters, i started to really notice the difference. the m4 pro sounds exactly like stock, and the throttle response was very crisp.

when we upgraded our m4 pro to a different motec, we had to solve tons of problems in order to get it running correctly. in the process, we tried the using the autronic reluctor interface, and while that solved some of our problems, it lacked the stock like smoothness and throttle response we had with our previous m4 pro. With the reluctor interface installed on the motec, it basically felt exactly like our previous autronic setup.

while that might sound like a knock on the autronic, i really attribute what i noticed back to the reluctor interface. i'm pretty confident that the autronic will run just as smooth when you provide it with a true digital signal from the hall effect sensor.

but all in all, this is really splitting hairs. if you didn't have anything to compare it to, you probably would never notice the difference.

Trust me, I'll know. I am very picky when it comes to stuff like that. Even Ben recomends the Hall Effect sensor over the reluctor interface.

I also really wants to Eliminating My Distributor on Honda B 18C Engine and last time when I'm buy the MOTEC M800 they said that we can use Motec Product call GT 101 Hall Sensor for Cam and Crank Trigger Sensor BUT I DO NOT KNOW how to make it to eliminating the Distributor for using 4 Individual Coils set up.
Right Now My Set Up already using 4 Individual Coils ( Running Sequentials , NOT Wasted Spark ) BUT I'm Still have to use the Distributor ONLY for the Ref and Sync Signals .
Anybody knows how to do it to using MOTEC GT101 Hall sensors ?

Thank u .

God Bless U

this is the trigger wheel i will be using... attatched to an adapted unorthodox cam gear... minus the magnets still

Nice Trigger Wheel setup...Your car ever gonna be out? hehe. It's been in pieces since I joined H-T All the manufacturers need to stop coming out with better products so you can finish.

no we are not. we are just using the dist as a place to get the the signal with our own hall effect sensor in it. Getting rid of the dist. would really clean the bay up. I like the one posted above...looks cool with the lightning holes and all.

Too bad they dont make it for a Sohc.I've decided against going crank trigger partly because i couldnt find a bolt on kit like that(i dont have the time/patients to fab one anymore ) and partly because my sohc dont turn those big rpms to justify getting one....at least for me

That GT101 sensor is manufactured by a company called Honeywell and is the exact same sensor the autronic uses........motec just gives it their own part number!

Arturbo and laskeys both use this set-up.....they can help you, or contact me and I'll point you in the right direction.
