Default Brakes on a 91 Honda Accord

My brakes feel spongy when I apply pressure to them. Sometimes the will even sink to the floor board, and I have to pump them to get the car to stop. I changed the pads to no avail. Does anybody know what could be wrong wtih them? Also, my car idles rough. The rpms will go down to 500 then back up to 900 then settly at 700, when I let off the gas. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Dave

You may need to bleed the brake system, all 4 wheels a few times.

lol dude u got my problem
my mechanic told me to get new pads, and shoes
but thats 2 stop the vibration on the steering wheel and he said it should fix the braking sinking problem...
however, my dad having owned about 6 hondas said i have to replace the master cylinder 1...to fix the brakes 2 to fix the vibration
so most likely its ur master cylinder...

had the same problem....it is your master cylinder....its pretty easy to do yourself, just take your time and do it correctly so you dont have to keep rebleeding...
