These are four of "the best" selections that i found on tirerack.com.
These would be used for my 14 X 5 civic ex stock steelies.

Sumitomo HTR 200 $42 a piece

Dunlop SP Sport A2 $54 a piece

Pirelli P6000 Sport Veloce $56 a piece

Yokohama AVID H4 / V4 $47 a piece

I had these on my old 88 prelude si the handling was very good in dry weather but unexpectedly good in rain and snow.

I have yokohama avids, they are fine in the dry, but very unsettling on wet pavement. It doesn't take much for all 4 tires to break loose on wet asphalt on an exit ramp or turn, etc.. They seem to do fine with the wet when driving in a straight line.

I second Dunlop Sport A2's. I had them on my 93 Ex and they were awesome. Good grip and I quiet ride in the dry, and excellent handling in the wet.

Depending on where you are from, Townfair Tire or something similar might bea those prices for you. (you'll probably get free mounting/balancing local too)
