Default b16/CRX Si Went 14.76@87.85 MPH???? Something wrong????

Hey I have a 88 crx si with a b16. Mods are AEM CAI, AEM cam gears, skunk2 intake manifold, JG 66mm Throttle body, dc headers, AEM fuel rail, and 2.25 inch custom magnaflow exhaust running on m/t 20x6x14 baby slicks with stock suspension. car weighs 2200 lbs with me in it. I was wondering if that was a good time for those mods??? 87 MPH seems a little low. i ran a 14.9@94 without slicks. I ran a 2.0 60ft with slicks and 2.25 with out slicks. are the 20 inch slicks killing my MPH or what???

slicks will get you better ET's, but lose 2-3 mph.

Consistancy is the key though!

stock suspension doesnt help any. I ran a 14.3 in a GSR EG CX Hatch that I had with stock suspension. When we did the suspension ( basic springs and shocks) and nittos, we dipped into the 13's with the same stock motor set-up. Do your suspension. Keep trying to lighten the car safely as well...Good Luck

Default slicks

That pressure is a little high for slicks, try coming down a lot. Start at 12. Your 60' should be about 1.8 with slicks.

well i dont consider myself a good driver but i think i am above average. I mean most of the times i go to tracks i am one of the fastest hondas there. also i have been drag racing for 2+ years. MY question is are the 20 inch slicks killing my MPH???

If you started on street tires with 94 mph, and then dropped to 87 mph, something is wrong. If you don't think its your motor, then what else has changed between the runs? I believe that you are a competent driver (the 60' foot times reveal it atleast for street tires, slicks take a while to getting used too.) Just start eliminating the possible problems, and you'll get where you are hoping too.
(If you get the right combination of slicks and speed, you should be deep in the 14's or even snag a high 13. 94 mph on street tires is a good enough speed for 14.5, so imagine if you can do that with slicks.)

20x8x14 are best at 12 psi
20x6x14 are best at 14 psi

Jared is right about the 1.8x 60 ft, my best is a 1.816 on 20x8x14 MT's @ 12 psi and launching at 7800 rpm on a juiced SOHC.

on slicks she went a 14.67 at 92.55 2.2 60" launching at 5000R's
prolly 2000LBS with driver
bottom line b16s suck!

my BONE stock b16a crx ran 14.27@97 on street tires 2.27 60 ft <-- this time was the very first time at the track so im sure a 14.0 could have been pulled with 100mph traps (never ran on street tires again)

with 20x6 slicks at 12-14 psi depending on track conditions ran 13.62@101 full interior (night drags) and stock ecu totally stock motor. still running stock header and cheap intake, full exhaust

good luck

i run my mt 20x8x14's (which are for sale $200) at 10 psi and run consitant low 1.8 60's but with 22's my mph jumped from 108 to 110 and my et went from 12.6 to 12.5 with the same 60's soo hopefully that helps.
