Default Header or Exhaust - which way

I just got a sick custom heat shielded short ram CAI, thx Cypher, but am now wondering whats the next step.

the debate is..........

Header and hi flo cat.....or........cat back exhaust......which one first????

I hear the ITR systems pretty good, and it looks just that aswell. And if exhaust is the answer i hear 60mm gives just the right back pressure....but thats another topic.

Header or Exhaust.......& plse try and provide a small reason.

PS: 01 DC2ITR, incase you needed to know.

In the completely nicest way possible you need to use the Search function and research this topic thoroughly and come to this discussion with more specific questions, requirements and parameters.

That said, I Punched in HEADER into the Search under archived for the R forum and found, NO JOKE 311 topics on 8 pages.

Similarly I typed in Catback + Exhaust to the Search and recieved 104 topics on 3 pages. This seems limited only since I added exhaust to catback as a search.

Here is a helpful link to loosely compare headers: http://bob123e.tripod.com/thegreatheadertest/

In general (meaning mass production) a well designed header nets more power individually than a catback but, Both should be combined with a good high flow cat to realize full potential.

Intakes don't usually produce much more than stock and decent general proof of this is SGT's post comparing the JDM snausage, to the AEM to the Stock intake:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=514964

I would go so far as to say that the most realized gains from the majority of intakes on the R are throttle response and feel related to such.

Please, Please, please search and research, because this topic has been covered at least 1,000 times before you thought of posting it.

There are more than a few ways to go for header and exhaust and you might even decide to stay stock?! A few custom shops will produce more than what you may get from the mass market and one in particular continues to impress many of us with both product, quality and results, SMSP. Plus Dave is a Hell of a nice guy.

Good luck,

A.

As already explained, use the search function. As an answer to the question, it is crucial that you explain what your future plans for the car are, as short-sighted purchases just need to be replaced later down the road to compensate for other modifications.
