Default What was the first car you use to learn how to drive?

My dad taught me how to drive in his hybrid turbocharge 85 Mazda B2000 truck. He took me to soccer field to practice and then he went to the local liqour store and got drunk. I drove home that day, pride and scare. That was back home in Thailand. The car I use for the DMV test in the States was my aunt '91 Accord.

The first car I ever drove was my dad's 1963 Lincoln Continental 4dr convertible. The first manual tranny car I ever drove was my dad's 1974 Triumph Spitfire. I honed my skills in my first car, a 1967 Plymouth Barracuda, with a slant 6 and 3spd manual. I took my driver's test in my mom's Pontiac Grand Prix. I don't want to date myself, so I won't tell the year.

I learned to drive an automatic in a 1989 Toyota Corrolla. Then I learned to drive a manual on my first Integra Type-R.

my first car was a 1993 Mazda RX7 R1 (only 350 made) making over 500Whp , needless to say my dad sent me to racing school for a week before i even drove the RX7..after that they took my Dual SBC boost controller out and set the boost at the wastegaste for 8PSI also completely tuned my Haltech down , after all that the car was only making 280whp but i was still clocking in high 12's in the 1/4 mile. Even with 280whp the car was completely insanely fast....six months after , and with alot of begging my car was tunned to 560whp ...YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH FUN THAT WAS...the car scared the hell out of me from time to time, it was more addrenaline rush than my bike...i was taking out Ducatis 996s and honda 929rr's..anyways my best pass on the RX7 was a 9.6 in the 1/4. Then i sold it along with my Ninja and bought a Type-R.. but i am working on getting an undercover FC3S.

I learned to drive in an 87 Grand Am, I actually learned to drive stick playing Hard Driving down the shore as a kid.. I musta dropped big money on that game... then the first real stick I drove was a Saab 9000S Weird stick if you kept your hand on the stick while driving it would just grind.... Very weird. After that was my Accord... and many many other Automatics. No more Auto's!

86 Civic DX hatchback, I used to work at a car rental place, business was slow - so I took it out back, rolled the tires through motor oil - then parked it with the front tires in a puddles of oil, put it in neutral, floored the gas for a good ten secs, then dropped it into D1 with the e-brake pulled - that was by far the sickest 5 min burn out EVER - you couldn't even see the 40 rentals, all smoke, the next day drove it to work and the car was slumped over to the left - turns out I blew the whole front suspension (torsion bar, strut etc.) - it wasn't my 1st time driving, but it was my first car , i would never do that to my teggy

I learned regular driving on my mom's '90 Taurus L when I was 14 or so. Then to drive stick I learned on her '99 Mustang GT. The only sticks I have ever driven have been that, my R, and assorted sports cars for test drives. Once I drove my friend's Mazda Protege and man was it weird. Driving sports cars requires a lot more involvement than a regular economy car.

I learned how to drive on my first car, the 1977 M-B 300D "Phat Benz." Drove it for the next four years. I still miss that car

Taught myself how to drive stick on my brother's '84 Prelude - with a blown head gasket no less!!

Used to take out the '66 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 for tire-smokin' fun - it would break loose the BFG muds Dad used to run on it

first car i ever drove was my pops 740 in a parking lot at the beach with my stoner stepbrother. .ahhaha.. step-family is good for something. ahah.. the first stick i drove was my dads jeep cherokee 85', the throws were long and while he was teaching me he kept making me stop on hills. ahha.. damn i peeled out a lot.. i took my driving test with the car my mom gave me a 86 4 dr. civic, manual tranny. I used to rip that car up, there's this hill near my house that you could catch air off, which i used to do at least once a day until i knocked the bumper off the car.. ahhah..
