Why is the inurance so high on the itr?
Is tehre a specific reason why the insurance is so high on this car? im 18 3 tickets but they al lgot cleared cuz of court supervision, any1 have any idea how expensive it would be? any input would be nice
I'm thinking a combination of:
1. Streetracing accidents
2. Theft
3. Stupid parents buying them for their highschool kids and letting them total it
4. Hype
5. More hype

Because of the term "Collector's Car" or "Limited Edition" that is associated with them.
I think because the car is aimed toward young drivers and it has quite a bit of horsepower the insurance is high, i don't think theft has much to do with high insurance on Type R's.
Insurance was high on Type R's when they first introduced them (before there was a chance for theft, right?)

High theft rate absolutely contributes greatly to high insurance. If statistics show the car is very likely to be stolen, the insurance company raises the rates in anticipation of having to pay claims on the high theft rate cars. Also, as far as my insurance company is concerned, the ITR is placed into the same sports car catagory that the Corvette (for example) is placed in, so insurance is going to be high even if the theft rate weren't high.
the what ifs...etc...
i dont think are too relevant right now.
personally, i think the ITR is just a highly stolen theft car.
this explains the rates. if you want to play with fire, prepared to be burned...but most of the time, if you are careful... you can avoid the 'RJ' feeling

as far as LE goes, I don't think it's that at all...just general theft rate of the Integra itself.

Not the same deal when I bought my R...
The insurance company quoted me $1400 a year on an "Integra." I bought the car the next day, and when I called in the vin # their response was "Oh, its a Type R... your yearly quote will be $2200."

I would assume it's different w/ every insurance company, but mine didn't obviously know the difference between the two, and I made sure they had the VIN before of the R...

I was told would be less to insure a Viper when I had my ITR. Insurance was twice as much than a 99-00 Si and over twice as much as our V6 Accord.
With your age and tickets..
Ouch

Are you serious? If so, please do a search using "stolen" as a key word. The motor and other parts are among the most coveted among thieves. If you are not aware of the theft problems that come w/ owning an ITR, it is definetly not a car for you.

I told you because I wreck 'em not becaue I gained weight and sat on 'em.
Funny enough my rate went up only $400. for 1 year after I totally fugged my first R.
I've beat my 1 ticket so it can't be my impeccable driving record.
What is so high? Nuttin for me. I'm, married, over 30 and no moving violations in over 7 years.
"So I slipped officer, **** happens..."
New R, back to the old rates, ready to wreck another.
That's it Tom, you're dead when I see you next TuRfNaZi!
