Default 4-door

I have noticed that 4 door civics are selling for a lot less then the hatches. I don’t really mind the way the 4 door version looks. What would be the disadvantages of getting a 4 door and not a hatch? Also does the rear seat in the 4 door fold down?
Thanks

that would be it...the weight...plus if you aren't getting an EX then you have that crappy d15b2....

but DO IT!! i promote the purchasing of 4thgen sedans to all, there is not a better civic sleeper platfrom availalbe!!

Weight isnt even an issue when you look them up, my 91 LX weighed 2151 with me out of it. We have a scale at Firebird in Phx. The glass in hatches is what makes it so heavy, triple ply saftey glass is heavy as hell.

I had a 4dr project going for a while b16 1st sold that motor, ZC then i sold the car to Sparq from here. Definatley one badass sleeper the only that blows is power seatbelts, fugly interior colors and low aftermarket parts. If you get a 88-89 DX you dont have power seatbelts and you can do a swap easy. Then you can swap out the cheap seats for some good ones. But if you can get a EX, snag it.

http://www.1point6.onlineshowoff.com For pics, info and my dyno run.

EDIT: Found some weights online, Autotrader, Hondaswap, & some random ones.
91 LX 4dr - 2103
91 Si Hatch - 2284
91 CRX Si - 2174
91 HF CRX - 1,967
91 DX 4dr - 2160

Could be off, but when my friend weighed his 91 Si at the track and it weighed 2292 with him out of it, so pretty accurate.

I have a 90 dx and a 90 ex, both of mine fold down. As for the weight the lx should weigh more than the dx...so I think those are off. The weights I saw were dx/lx in the 2200 range and the EX was just over 2300. I've never weighted mine though so I persoanlly dont know.

i've personally never seen a 4dr that the back seat didn't fold down. but i've not seen everythign yet. there should be a keylock in the back window in the center, put your ignition key in thatand turn and it should relase the seat to fold down. youc an also open the trunk and there should be a little strap under there you can pull to open it. 4drs are cool, i've had several. may turbo my 91dx soon.

So how do you think this set up would perform?

4 door ex
zc engine with aftermarket intake and exhaust
cheap rims with decent tires
decent lowering springs and shocks

This car will be used as my daily driver / beater. I want the car to be quick and to handle good. It doesn’t have to be the fastest or best handling. Basically I just want something to have fun with and also be reliable. What do you guys think?

My 4dr ZC was fun, just had intake and exhaust. Some shitty coilovers and stock shocks and still rode good.

4drs looks badass i think, but im all for different.

Maybe thats one of the diffs between the 88-89 vs the 90-91 4th gens. Post what you got and if they fold down.

I have an 89 LX and the backseat folds down. It weighs around 2250 roughly with full interior and stereo

I had a D16Z6 with I/H/E, 88 Teg pistons, Mugen OBD1 ECU and wiring. pulled 15's on shitty springs and shocks with DX trans and 16's on 40's.

I know have a LS with YS1 tranny and full 90 Teg brakes. Soon to be turbo B20-VTEC

They are the perfect sleeper. aftermarket body parts are hard to find. I am going to do a 90-93 Teg front end with one-piece headlights and teg dash.

4drs do look great fixed up a friend of mine has one with an all gray new paint job no body kit with nuespeed race springs and 16's wheels. He also has a ZC with i/h/e cams and gears its pretty fast, the low weight compared to todays 4dr makes it fast. He tells me that a lot of people always complement him on his ride and to me it doesnt look like a sleeper. I liked his so much I just bought one to but I am planning going b16.
