jdm integra type r octane
hey u guys. Im considering dropping in a jdm integra type R engine in my civic. Does anyone know what octane level it runs on? Ive heard it runs on 100, but can it run on anything lower than that without damaging the engine or lossing power?
uhh... highest ive seen @ the pumps in CA was 91....
r u absolutely sure u can use 91 on a jdm integra type r engine designed to use 100, and not lose any power? or well not alot?

I had a 1998 Spec R JDM motor in my old Type R ran fine stock 91 hit 13.9 bone stock (well I had a clutch and flywheel) hahahah secret
you will be fine on 91 gas just run your stock brain and make sure you add CAS crank angle sensor
later

yeah, i have seem that at 76

Of course 91-92 is ok. You don't need to bother with timing or whatever blah blah.
It's only 11:1 compression. The US S2000 is 11.5:1.
I've heard of people running over 12:1 on 92-93 octane.

the AUSDM ITR has same compression as JDM and the manufacturer claims in car manual that anything lower than 95 will cause loss in performance. Luckily we get readily available 98 / 95 and our lowest unleaded is 91/92.
If your going JDM ITR, go for 95(really do try lookikng for 98 though)-98+. This is the fuel the Japs use, well try 100+ readily available from the pump over there, and thats why JDM are that little bit better, because they have an easy availability of high octanes fuels and they build their domestic cars with this in mind.
USDM run on, like you say 91, if your lucky 93ron which is why it isnt as powerful or come wiht extra goodies as the JDMB18C.
Can you imagine an engine built and designed to run ATLEAST 95ron but tuned to excell at 98-100+ and then it ends up in an environment where 93 is its only option. Not too shabby. Unless you bother looking for high octane service stations and use octane boosters, or get the USDMB18C-5. It will be better suited to the fuel.
Many may disagree, but octane is a big factor in engine performance. It doesnt create HP, but more allows the engine to run and be tuned to peak performance.

pump octane (USA) = (RON + MON) / 2
RON = Research Octane number
MON = Motor Octane number
In Japan, Europe, Aus people are using RON. US pump Octane < RON

you shouldnt have any problems , i ran mine on 91 octane for 2years with no problems . but if you can put higher octane go for it .
theyre some gas stations that have them here but are rare .
Can some of you Cali(specially south cali
) peeps name some gas station that you are aware that sale higher octane then 91 at the pump.
