Integra Type R or RSX Type-S Board?
Maybe it is just me - but can we get back to talking about the car we all own and love - the Integra Type R. I'm getting a little tired of all the posts about the RSX Type-S. I don't own one, I don't want to own one, so why do I want to read about it on the Type R board?
I think the main reason is we go over a lot of the same stuff and this is just something new to talk about. Once we all start layin the smackdown on the type s this fad will be gone. Viva la type r
YEAH, Type S sucks. If it was the RSX Type R I could see it being here on the board. I have higher standards after getting my R, anything that doesn't have the racing feel and is just sporty......doesn't work. The RSX Type S isn't even faster than our cars, Why do we care?

I think that MiraiZ is saying that they are the same because there is no "type-s" equivilant over in Japan. This was the case Ross (i think it was him) was trying to say in the "we wont get the type-r" thread. Think about it guys, the motors of the new ITR and RSX Type-S are too close to release a ~215hp Type-R, and if there is a RSX Type-R released, it surely wont be for awhile and they wont be able to water it down much, that's a proposition I don't think Acura will take, they wont give use recaros, they wont give us the big brakes, etc. but they can't trim em down because the Type-S excels in it's braking category and has the best seats of any Teg that came to the US so far (imo). Granted there are other differences, but I just wouldn't be surprised one bit if we never see a RSX Type-R. Plus, the Type-S sells for 24k which means ~28K or so for a Type-R.. too much $$ for what it is unless you just want to race it only.
I think the main reason is we go over a lot of the same stuff and this is just something new to talk about. Once we all start layin the smackdown on the type s this fad will be gone. Viva la type r
No offense, but just because you live in Japan doesn't make us believe you. You can be fed the same misinformation as us.

Flux, just relax man. No one is trying to dis your Type R by posting in this message board. Are you so insecure that you think the Type R HAS to be unbeatable. I doubt the Type S is "faster" than your Type R - so there I said it. You feel better? Honda just needed to change their Integra line. Relax - world's not ending......
I still think the R will come. If Honda does not bring it, they are making a major mistake because the R has proven that it can sell, and that is ultimately what keeps a car alive. People who would have bought Rs will NOT buy the RSX-S and be content. I know I for one would buy a WRX. I think 28K is a little high - maybe 26 or so. When you consider that the R cost 25 in 1997 and adjust a little bit for the ever-rising cost of cars, then 27K for the next-gen R wont be so bad. Honda knows that there is a horsepower war on the verge of starting in the US. Do you really think they'll leave their biggest gun at home??

Sorry MiraiZ, you're wrong. The 2002 JDM Integra Type R is a true Type R. The USDM RSX Type S is not the same. (Though it's still a sweet ride.) Shame on you for living in Japan and not knowing the difference. The Type R has LSD, Brembo 4 caliper brakes, a lighter chromoly flywheel, 220hp (vs. 200), better wheels, lighter chassis, etc.
The Type S fills the old GSR's position. As we all know, the GSR and R are not the same. (But they share quite a bit of parts

Shame on him? WTF? They don't have the Type-S over there, how in the hell would he know the difference? And US (edit) emissions (end edit)and the watered down products we get can "make up" for the other differences. In japan, they used to have a GS-R spec car (gsi-r or whatever it was called), now they do NOT have a Type-S spec car, only 160hp base and a better version, just like the RSX / RSX Type-S.

R is not proven that it can sell. I have a local dealer which has about 9
2001 type R CW left. I live in Toronto and the dealer's name is Erin
Mills Acura. You can ask anyone from Toronto to verify what I said. Those
R have been here since April but NO ONE PICK THEM UP. NOw the RSX
type S is here, I went to that dealer today and there were 2-3 people
looking at buying the RSX type S, but ALL THE R IS PARKED ON THE SIDE
AND IT SEEMS LIKE NO ONE CARE OF THEIR EXISTENCE.
Anyone from Toronto can verify what I said. Right TorontoR?

Actually guys, there is a board for the RSX. Its www.clubrsx.com . All that the Type S owners talk about is the Type R. Kind of funny if you think. We both are concerned which car is faster. In my point of view, the Type R will take on the Type S anyday!

No offense, but just because you live in Japan doesn't make us believe you. You can be fed the same misinformation as us.
....By being in Japan (and knowing how to read Japanese -magazine, books, owner forums, and Integra club newsletter) and not to mention going to several Honda sponsored events and races, I can get more information MONTHS before most people can on this list.Second, I own my own (small but humble) forum and co-moderate one of the largest ones on the web, and I periodically release personally taken pictures and information about JDM cars months before most people see it (including the new Type R which I had prototype photos of before one was even sold in Japan!!)...I may be pretty quiet and subdude here, but I have a strong reputation on other sites for being amazingly knowlegeable and accurate on info about most JDM cars especially Honda's and Mitsu's.
Now...to get back to the subject matter.... The main difference between the Type R and the USDM Type S (besides it exterior appearance) is all the extra safety features, option packages, environmental control devices, and ammenities that the USDM gets. JDM does not get all those things standard. We get a light weight, no frills, race package, and everything else is extra or not offered at all. Mechanically, the cars are almost identical in performance, with maybe the exception of accelaration due to the extra weight on the RS-X. So when people say that the JDM type R will never make it to the State..THIS IS WHAT WE MEAN. You will NEVER be able to get a car WITHOUT the smog regulation devices or the added safety feature that the JDM's lack, simply because its the LAW!!
But now the RS-X is much closer to being an ITR than its predecessors (no more JDM body kits etc...) we can now share the same body parts and accessories unlike the past...so essecially there is no need to sell the Type R (race tuned) version as long as you have the Type S (sports tunes -raced tuned + weight from ammenties)

Okay Ninjaman
first of all, The New ITR DOES NOT get four Brembro calipers...it gets FRONT calipers ONLY. And just to let you know..its just a marketing ploy to increase sales (Mitsubishi did the same thing with the EVO VI TME). Granted..... they are Brembo brakes which are good quality brakes BUT, its one of their lower end models, not the $4000 per set kind you would see in the parts catalogs. These Brembos are made for light weight cars and really aren't too much different in quality from the standard Honda disc brakes on the ITR or NSX (which are pretty damn good brakes.)...By giving it the Brembo name, it turns the heads of the tune heads out there, and decreases the chances of them swapping it out for better parts (which Honda hates)Second, you get a lousy 200HP compared to the whopping 220hp (writing sarcastically) on the ITR because the US likes to load their cars down with so much smog control B.S. which takes heaps away from a small 2.0L. With a little tuning, you too can have the 220hp that the ITR has...

Third, the replacement for the GSR is not the Type S...its the Standard RS-X.
Now...after saying all that, I sincerely do not understand why so many folks are so JDM obsessed ...its reallly obsurd...Granted, I really enjoy my ITR a lot, BUT only because I am in Japan....If I had this in the States I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much. Its loud, unconfortable, and jerky...but I tolerate it because I love cars, and I don't need to drive on freeways as much. If I were in the States, This car would probably be in the garage most of the time and used on weekends or on the track...and I would probably enjoy a car like the RSX a lot more...

MiraiZ,
Thank you so much for clarifying that. To me in my opinion, some guys are so caught up in what's JDM and what's Type R that they don't really see and appreciate what's in their US market. The RSX Type-S is a great car. Much confident in power and handling then the GSR. (Don't know about the Type R b/c I never driven one.) Your explaination of the differences in Japan and US auto markets for Honda was very precise. There are many marketing ploys to hype up new models before it's released. In addition, US safety and smog/emission controls are far stricter than Japan (mostly because of our car per capita count being much greater than Japan). These emission controlling systems can degrade power, thus we have the Type-S and Japan has the 2002 Integra Type-R.
Well, just open a book or magazine and read about it.
Thanks again, MiraiZ.

Actually MiraiZ,
I think the RSX is the replacement for the Integra LS and the RSX Type S is the replacement for the GSR.
