how low can seats get in a s2000
what kinda race seats or rails are out there and whats the lowest and farthest back you can sit and how much more is that than stock i looking to sit as low as possible and like 2 or 3 inches back than stock
i dont want you guys to think im tryin to get mad gangsta lean im just tall and larger than most and dont fit to great in them stock so im trying to see if i can lower the seat because the s2000 is my dream car and i will do anything to get one
If you look around on http://www.s2ki.com there is a free mod that lets you lower the seats by about 1.5 inches. Moving it back farther would probably require different seats as currently, the rails allow the seat to move all the way back until the seats hit the rear deck area.
thanks ill go there and look around , does anybody no off seats that are thinner than stock s2000 seats so the combo of that mod and the smaller seat whould yeild a big diffrence
This is a tough one.
I'm looking myself for a lower seat since I'm 6'2". I can somewhat see the RPMs (half of the top is masked by the wheel) and at traffic lights I have to duck to see the light. If the top is down though, I can usually see the light above the windhield
.
The main problem with adapting racing seats or even "sporty" seats is that the car is quite narrow and many seats won't fit. Another issue is that the floor is not flat - it has bumps and lumps...
I bought some time ago a pair of Corbeau Forza's hoping that I'll be able to adapt them with custom rails. Unfortunately with the rails I've scrapped together (good idea, crappy implementation) I'm not sitting that much lower and of course the wife cannot drive the car. If you get the Corbeau rails, it will only sit 1/2 - 1" lower - not nearly enough for me.
If you'll decide to spend enough money, anything can be solved. I was just trying to do it with less money - and apparently it did not work.
Good luck to you,
George
PS: ... and I still have a Forza seat I have not use for...

Good luck with that. That s2ki place is great. I just stumbled upon it myself, but haven't registered yet.
Make sure you post pics of the seats once you get em!

I am 6'1" and around 200 pounds and I too was not to comfortable with the OEM seats so I switched them out for Spoon carbon kevlar seats. Let me tell you with the setting all the way back and on the lowest setting (heightwise), I cant push the clutch all the way down. Plenty of legroom and great back support. The only downside is they cost an arm and a leg but definetly solved my problem. Check them out at A&J Racing in Canada or R&D Motorsports in Virginia. Great service from both shops as well..
3" lower from a sparco roadster and rail? this is incorrect. I have had mine for several years now, and its not that much lower. if you are over a certain height, it will actually raise your head. mouting directly to the floor with a custom mount would help out in actually increasing clearance.
01-0720 - again, the claimed 3" is incorrect. trust me on this one. I sell the seats and the same rails (same raw manufacturer), also use them on my daily driver/track car and they are not 3" lower unless you start drilling your own holes into the floor board and mouting them with a custom mount.
I took this picture today. Sorry not the greatest picture but you should get the idea..
Also remember this is not set at the lowest setting or all the way back. The bar you see in the center doesnt bother me at all. My legs clear it with no problem.
Seats run about $1400 a seat. Takata harnesses ran about $300 a piece. The Spoon adjustable rails run about $450 a piece shipped next day from A&J Racing.
