OT- bulbs to match HID
I'm running 6000k Phillips. Are there any brands of bulbs out there that will match up pretty well in color (while maintaining acceptable brightness) to the 6000k? Refering to the high beams.
I may be wrong, but I think PIAA Plasma Blue's were supposed to look like HID right? If so, do they make a high beam bulb?

Don't match the high beam bulbs to the HID. Any halogen bulb with a coloured coating will put out less light than an uncoated one. Since you are concerned about your high beams, I would assume that you want more light, so just leave those bulbs stock. Overboost.com did a story a long time ago and measured light levels. well, seeing that he went 6000K, he obviously doesnt care about light output anyways..

haha funny....
I just have plain clear 9005 high beams, and when I flick them on along with my HID's, man it turns the night into day.

Oh god, not you again dickless. You're the notorious 6000k hater. Seriously bro... give it up, you look like yer trying to start a cult of 4300k or something. I got 6000k knowing the way it would look. It is considerably BRIGHTER THAN STOCK. MUCH BRIGHTER THAN STOCK. You see that, or you want me to type it again? I did care about an increase in brightness when I went from stock to HID, I was just willing to compromise and have the color that I liked. We clear? With brights and fogs, I am gonna be more bright than anyone needs to be. Do I need them? NO, I could see more than fine now... but why not?
Does PIAA make Plasmas for the high beam? 9005.

I know you still get over twice the lumen intensity (~2700 lumens, that's still better then 1,000 lumens on stock halogen) with the 6000K range still. Some of us that have reflector housing don't like the 4100K/4300K color because it still has a hint of yellow. Projectors are different. I had OSRAM HID's that was slightly blue but decided to switch to Philips purple.
I just bought a HID fog light system since we get a lot of heavy fogs...it's gonna be nice
dual HID's!

I swear it's like he LOOKS for IM's about HID's to just bash the ones he doesn't like as much. Man, either you have way too much time Komando Queer or you 1. check every message in every forum on HT everyday .... or you 2. do a search for HID posts everyday, so you could get in your little repetaive bashing. If I see you in another HID post, I'm just gonna assume you have a problem. HID's anonymous? (make sure you check into the program for ignorant ***** though)

lmao.. a little on the offensive there.. name calling and everything.. how mature.. all i did was make a harmless internet opinion about how wack and worthless 6000K is and you get upset.. if you like your lights, thats all that matters.. i just saw how you wanted to have purple high beam bulbs to match your purple HID, and laughed to myself.. no need to get offensive there..

Look at the manufacturer specs too it's 2700 lumens, 300 lumens big whoop. Seriously you DO need to get over this 6000K thing, some people do have preference to what they like even if the output lumen is lower.

Not to derail the main topic but for my own personal interest how could improve my DX stock lights that use 9003 blubs?? Something that won't melt the housing but give me a brighter whiter light??? Silverstars yah nay?? Change lamp sockets?? But how to mount??

coming from some one who has had both, there is no way that I am going back to 6000k. Its just not worth it!
Heck, the 6000k bulbs are not even DOT approved while all the 4100 k bulbs are. I know that it is a moot point since they are not meant for halogen housings, but have you ever wondered why the 6000k bulbs are not approved in the first place?
I'll tell you why, performance in the rain sucks! You can hardly see the road with 6000k, the light just gets absorbed while there is still contrast with the 4100k bulbs. Ever wonder why most foglights are yellow? It is because the yellow light provides the most contrast, as well as scatters less in fog. The contrast thing is good for headlights in general, and that is why the 6000l bulbs suck
I had the 4100k kit for over two years in my USDM front, from four carlengths ahead, the colour looked identical to a BMW. There is just no way in hell that 6000k can simulate this look
(OEM HID)

HAHAH LMAO!!! Gotta back up MTK Kommander here... He doesn't bash... I'de call it constructive criticism... He only tries to educate... If only you guys actually would take a second and listen to what he has to say... He is right about the lumens and what not... 4100-4300k is the best for light output... No yellow in my 4300k Catz, like people seem to think or say... To me i say if you invest into something pretty expensive like HIDs... I say try getting the most out of it with the light output... I would think thats the sole purpose of getting them right? But i could be wrong to say it about everyone buying HIDs... But I'm not hating on 6000k peeps... just dont think its a wise decision going for color over light output... I had 8000k b4 and they were pretty shitty compared to my 4300ks now... No strain on the eyes...
But do what you like

Seriously if I had a projector, I'd go with the 4100K any day but for my reflector it sucks with color. I've tried two Philips kits and I didn't like the color. So when I saw the output of the Ultinon's, I thought it's not too bad for the output, even though it's slightly dimmer but still bright considering it's HID. Another reason why I invested in HID fogs, still wanted the the 4100K output and it doesn't have the yellowish tint from that lens. I need to post some pics...4100K driving lights + HID would be super bright

thank you.. thats my point.. why spend so much money to not buy the best possible lighting?
philips FAQ site rated the Philips Ultinon 6000K bulbs 2400 lumens @ 5800K..
ive been in cars with these kits, they are not even worth the money IMO.. AND, most of these 6000K kits cost over $100 more than a 4100K kit.. which doesnt make sense.. thats like a civic EX costing more than a GSR..
i just tell people that for the money, 4100K is better, if they want to get the 6000K's or whatever, thats their own thing.. if they like their stuff, why should they care if i do or not? im just a guy on a message board..
