My friend was looking for a front clip for his DA integra and came across this.

If you look at the description you see it says this engine has (limited edition big vtec). I have never heard of this before. Is it just a name they gave it to sell it faster or is there such a thing?

 

There's no such thing as big vtec. I think what they are trying to say is it has more hp than the original B16's. If I remember correctly.

Marketing hype either way.

actually its a 2nd gen. as far as the "big vtec" i think he is refering to the valve cover lettering. the first gen B16's had DOHC in larger font than VTEC compared to the 2nd gen having it the other way around.

 

late '91 model CRX/Civic and '92 Integra models got the same engine as the '91 ('92 year model) EG2/6/9 Del Sol and Civic. My "Race Base" EF9 Civic and Special Edition EF8 CRX came from the factory with the 170hp B16A2.
