Default HID lights?

Ok, I am new to this board and I need some help. I have been to other boards and have gotten very little response to my question.

I live in California, and I have a 2001 Integra GSR. I am looking for a true HID (High Intensity Discharge) lighting system for my car. But I can't find any kits for sale, to upgrade my lighting. I know people have done it, but how? Where did they get the kit? Where can I buy an HID kit for my car? And how hard is it to install?

Thanks

I know a lot of people recommend the Phillips retro-fitted HID kit...all you have to do is connect a harness and find a place to mount the HID ballast. Look on groupbuycenter.com; I don't think they have any buys running right now for HID kits, but they pop up all the time. They should run about $400-$550 depending on the kit and how good of a deal you get...

I put mine under the ABS and on the High Pressure AC line.

They mount right in in about 5 minutes.

if you get em - make sure to get D2S bulbs and DO NOT GET D2R bulbs, check ebay - do a search for "real HID" , if you type "HID" you get all them blue bulbs - good luck

hey carlex, do you have any good pictures with your lights on?? i know it wont be the same as in person but just to get an idea. i mean is the quality like the ones on the Mercedes and Bmws? also do you really think it was worth the 500ish bucks rather then spending it on something else?

D2S bulbs are for projector style housings(integra's), while the D2R bulbs are designed for reflector syle lights(civics).

yup, to identify them, you'll notice the D2S bulbs are "clear" while the D2R bulbs have a little thingy on the bulb itself, i guess a shield would be an appropriate word since i cant think of a better word right now....

D2R bulb (notice the shield on the bulb):

D2S bulb (completely clear): Also notice how the base of the bulbs has "D2S" written on it.

Tony,
I have Philips kit w/ D2S bulbs...the bulb doesn't look like the one you posted in the picture (bottom pic) completely. It looks like the bottom one except that it has the brown ceramic tube as the picture above...

like mentioned above catz are only 200 because they arent true HIDs, keep in mind JUST THE BULBS costs around 200 bucks......and im sure the ballasts arent 10 cents, If it's too good to be true, it porbably is.

Yeah there is a little bit of yellowish if you look closely..not pure blue/white as OEM..but I think that has to do with the Halogen reflector housing itself. I'm pretty sure I got the right bulb d2s..may be Tony took the picture with the brown tube facing the other way thus not visible at that angle. My bulb is right, it labelled d2s on the bulb as well as the original box.

Only FIVE more people to go before we hit the $410 price. If the Integra group has the largest buy-in, we get an additional $10 off, bringing the final cost to $400 flat. $400 flat for a genuine Phillips HID system! w00t! http://www.visualdynamics.ca/groupbuy.htm

The group buy kit - is it complete - everything - nothing else to buy? The new bulbs just pop in the way the OEM ones do? The ballast is easy to connect to the wiring harness & to the bulbs?

Default I believe...

I believe that it is the complete kit. It will come with everything that you will need to make it work. And I also believe that you can also get instructions for simple installation.
