Hey guys/gals, i'm getting my '98 gsr this tuesday. I test drove it yesterday, and the girl said something that kinda scared me. She said she's always filled it up with Chevron Plus gas. She's owned the car for about 2 years, what do you guys think? She says it runs fine and everything and the test drive seemed great! Is it alright to use Plus for that long?? Help!

hmm..seems a bit high..
i got my 99 accord ex v6 cpe with leather for 10,300, only 55k on it.
The accord sells for about 5g's brand new as well.

and keep an eye on the paint...the very vivid colors tend to fade (yellow, red, blue, etc.)

I think i'm gonna invest on a very very good alarm, since the integra is like the top most wanted car here. Any suggestions on good alarm systems?

That's normal.
So is shifting to 1st and reverse being tough.

LOL! Well my cousin got his type r stolen when he was in class.. So i want to be knowing that my car is safe.
^ Seriously d00d.....that is what it is gonna take to keep thieves off it too....
i suggest multiple kill switches, an alarm, club, autolock--basically EVERY theft detterance(sp?)

Welcome to the club...nice to see another 98 Milano Red GS-R on the board.
The fact that it was owned/driven by a girl is a good sign...usually they are light-footed drivers who baby their cars. Although she has a AEM cold air intake which makes me wonder if she has a lead foot.

Welcome... just be aware of the thefts... be smart... be aware... and be careful...
Lots of us have tegs without problems but lots of others do.

Seems high to me. Clifford makes a good alarm. So does Viper, they have a system out, top of the line ofcourse, but it is incredible, the features are amazing, the wires are NOT color coded, they cannot be pulled out of the brain or sensors, the siren has a built in battery, so they have to find it, take it out, and run it over to shut it up. Good stuff. Talk to her about the price.

Yea, but it looks like she babys the car... she kept repeating "it's my baby" The car looks MINT too. How many kill switches can you have? I'm thinking about getting 3-5.. one or two for the alarm and etc (if that's even possible).

I coudln't get the price any lower, because she's still owes the bank around $9k. So we just went for it, since all the other gsr's around here either have a lot of mods or is over priced. My friend has a Clifford alarm with the keychain screen on his lude, i'm thinking about getting that. And i was also thinking about the detachabble (sp?) steering wheel that i've seen in the mags. If you took the steering wheel with you, they can't jack it right???
Dont bother with an alarm. Get Lojack. They are starting to implement "alarm features" with the revovery mode. So you'll also get some siren, kill switch, and other deturant device security, just incase. Then the Actual LoJack recovery system at the very end.
If you havne't been around, Kill switches, Sirens, 1K dollar pager alarm, club, auto lock, etc.. wont DO ****.
People here have had ALL of that ****, and cars have still been stolen.

Avaiable to ANYONE.
Not try to scare you. Just laying down the facts.
Also. I put nothing but Chevron 93 or Amaco/BP based gas in my car. You shouldn't be worried.

lojack is a device that anyone can purchase. I believe its about $700+ for lifetime on one car. I guess its done by the police, they hide the lojack system some where in your car...and if some one were to steal your car, you would have 12 hours from when your car was stolen, i think, to call the cops, and they can locate where your cars at. Theres been some really good stories about lojack here on h-t. Last one i read was some guy had his ITR stolen, cops located it 2 hours later in some guys garage about to get stripped....those guys got OWNED!

Maybe that means I can just focus on the type of fuel I use and forget all the other maintenance. I guess I had it wrong all this time. hehe. Good luck with it and may it last a long time.

They can still jack your car with a flatbed trailer.
