Perhaps you should consult other insurance companies.

geico told me the same thing and I'm 28 with an excellent driving record. Other places wanted $500-$2000/yr just for liability. Then I called State Farm. They wanted $81/6months for basic liability!!

The reason prices vary is because different insurance companies look at motorcycle insurance differently. Some think its not worth it, so they charge up the butt. State Farm wants to be part of the market and have competitive prices, so thats why they are so low.

Geico's cycle guard is pretty strict. Just keep shopping around. Try putting your car on the insurance too and your bike insurance will go way down.

State Farm and Allstate are pretty decent with bike insurance also.

If you're a single male under 25 then expect to pay for it. Usually companies will give you a break if your car AND your bike are insured with them.

The premiums vary greatly. I'm 28, married, no points. Progressive wanted $1600/yr for full coverage on my ZX-12R. For just liability it was $700/yr. I have USAA for my auto insurance and I was scared to call them, but I ended up getting full coverage for$530/yr.

Shop around, call EVERYONE and get the best price.

Geico seems to have the strictest policies for everything their price discount doesn't even make up for the strictness in their policy. I save more with my current provider then I would with Geico. I dont know how they stay in business.

I'll keep posting about this,

Progressive's online quotes for bikes is completely wack. It by no means reflects any actual cost, and if your real cost and your quote were near each other, it was a freak occurance.

I've had my insurance through progressive for 3 bikes and 5 years. Prices flucuate a lot based on state and displacement.

Progressive seems to be based solely on displacement. So my SV650 costs more than an R6...

Are you looking for full coverage? Progressive is based on displacement. My friends '96 Katana 750 was more then his '00 ZX6R I have a '93 F2 through them and I pay $36 a month for liability. If I want comprehensive and collision it's like $72 a month.

I have progressive for my auto insurance. 24, clean driving record, single male. They wanted only like $180/yr (liability only) for the GS500 I got as a starter bike. For a Honda 919 it was $1600/yr full coverage, which makes it impossible to finance a new bike.
