b17 trany??
This tranny is a YS1. It is the most coveted cable b-series tranny. Excellent gearing. LSD was an option in Japan only. Check out the ratios:

I'm not sure what YS1 you have, but my YS1 (usdm GSR) is a little under 4K when going 80mph.
My S1 used to be right at 5K going 80, and that's why I switched tranny's.

Another good thing about this tranny is if your syncro's go bad, all you have to do is get them from your Honda dealer. While if your syncros go bad on a JDM tranny, you have to get the syncros from JDM land.

hey, was the itr lsd a straight drop in or did you have to modify it? i have an usdm ys1(ls) and i'm going to change the fd ring gear, 3/4 gears from a ys1 gsr tranny and keep fith from the ls! it should be nice!

I know mine is from a GSR, because I test drove it before he took it out of his GSR. I'm confused now though...? Your LS is the same?

i believe YS1 is the same code used on the 2g teg LS trannies as well as the 2g teg GS-R trannies. Just make sure if you buy a YS1 that it is definitely from a 2g GS-R and not an LS.
so how do you guys like the usdm ys1(gsr) tranny...i was looking at the chart http://www.allmotorhonda.com/t...s.htm how do you read this? does it mean the lower the # is the shorter the gearing is?

even using 205/45/16s which have an average overall diameter of 23.4" (only .6" bigger than stock), you should STILL be close to 3900rpm at 70mph in 5th with a stock 92-93 GSR YS1 tranny.
you either have a 92-93 LS trans OR your 5th gear was swapped for an LS 5th sometime in that tranny's past.
i am the owner of a 93 GSR YS1 trans myself and the stock 5th definitely has the rpm sitting at ~4000+ at 70mph.

Well i looked at it today on my way in to work. And something is definitely funny. My RPM is about 39XX while going 80. It's not quite at 4K, but almost there. But the gears don't feel that long. Maybe someone did switch the 5th gear for an LS. The guy that sold it to me didn't mention anything about doing this though. I am slightly slower in the 1/4 mile with this tranny. I ran a 15.1 with my S1 about 8 months ago, and this past weekend I ran a best of 15.5. I did make a few changes since the last time I raced though. I've gained about 20lbs, and I also installed the WW body kit with a new paint job. My car weighed in at 2378 with me in it. I'm guessing someone switched out the gear then.
