Help me upgrade my suspension!
Hey guys, I currently have Maxspeed coilovers and KYB AGX 4 way adjustable shocks on my 1992 GSR. I'm really sick of this setup, it's the only thing I hate about the car. Sure it handles great but EVERY bump is god-awful. I can hardly go into the city with this setup, it's killing my tires, and bending my wheels.
ANYWAY, I'd like to upgrade. This is a daily driver, so I need something that can take a bump decently. Also, it must be a coilover. I was thinking of Tein, but they have so many series. If I understand correctly, for 90-93 tegs they only have SS/SS-P/BASIC right? I found the SS for around $800, are they any good?
Feel free to suggest any suspension setups. I'd like to stay under $1,000.
Thanks,
Goldfingiz

I have a 95' GSR with a Tein setup (costed me $930 w/out pillowball mount) + other countless suspension upgrades. However, I have HA coupled with Type-R rear control arms for fitment. I've had this setup for than 9 months and I've got nothing to tell you but TEIN really has a great reputation. If you've got <$1000 to spend, here are a few suggestions:
Tein SS-P:
Very very similar to the HA...no helper spring, spring rates differ a little. Price ranges from $700-850.
Tein Basic:
Lower than the SS/SS-P model. Similar construct...made for the budget racer whos not skimping on performance. Price ranges from $650-800.
I see you've got the SS in mind...I can easily tell you, they are a great choice but I believe you can find a better price than $800. Anyways, good luck. You will be making a wise investment...gotta trust me on this one.
GOOD LUCK!
cheers
