Default Sad story about my R

I was on the highway tuesday around 6pm, it was raining like a bitch and windy, so i'm going about 80-90kph, the same as all other cars. i drove under a overpath, as i came out the car just started going sideways i tried to control it but it wouldn`t stop, so i smashed my driverside into the back of a s10 pickup truck by then going about 100kph spun on the highway about 3-4 times and flew into the ditch, the police said it hydroplaned, the driver door carved in on me and i cut my face arms and neck, all from the drivers window shatering on me, So i saw the car again today, it needs a front bumper, headlight, rad, rad support my headers are fucked, 2 fender are gone door, winshield,1 rim, and the rear bumper and quater panel are banged preety good, and the dashboard moved. I had Flaken Azenis on the car which the cop said are not suppost to be used in rain, which i was told different, So he charged me with careless driving and 6 pionts. So i will have pics up tommorrow of the car

Sorry to hear that. Do you need parts like radiator, radiator support, side fenders and hood. I have them from my JDM conversion. I will sell them to you cheap.

Although I would agree about the Azenis not being good in the rain, I'm not sure about the careless driving. If you can prove that the tires are DOT legal, and your speed was prudent, I would take that one to court.

of course you'd have to use more caution with such tire in the rain, but to make any tire street legal, it needs to have certain amount of thread.. now.. the only purpose of thread is to provide traction in the rain.. or am i wrong somewhere along?

Azenis are excellent in the rain when they are new.

Azenis are fine in the rain.

They are BAD in standing water, a little worse than most other tires are in standing water.

Regardless, very sorry to hear about your accident. Hopefully you are ok.

Azenis are not really meant for the rain. These tires are good for dry surfaces and "can" be driven in wet surfaces but are not really recommended. You may be able to fight the cop on the" careless" driving ticket he issued you. Good luck with the ticket bro and hope the R gets back on track.

I didn't buy my Azenis because of it's performance in the wet, if that's what you're trying to get out of me. Granted my tires have been pretty good to me because it has enough tread thickness to channel the water out. But to advertise the Azenis as being rain tires, that's absurd.

Traction grades represent the tire's ability to stop on wet pavement as measured under controlled conditions on asphalt and concrete test services. As of 1997, the traction grades from highest to lowest are "AA","A","B" and "C". A tire graded "AA" may have relatively better traction performance than a tire graded lower, based on straight-ahead braking tests. The grades do not take into consideration the cornering or turning performance of a tire.

Azenis are Traction A.

sad to hear

but how can a cop give you a ticket and charge you for ANYTHING if he did not witness it. I dont know about the laws from where you are from, but in LA, where im from, you cant get a ticket for what a cop did not see. Meaning after a accident they cannot write you up for speeding/reckless driving etc...

How do i know??? I got in a accident about 3 years ago w/ my old EG, cops showed up and said i was speeding and was going to get a ticket for speeding and reckless driving, i nicely asked the cop how he knew i was speeding if he was not present and I called the cops to show up??? he smiled and said "You're right, most people are not aware that we have to witness a violation to cite it"

Granted there are no evidence. They can tell how fast you're going by skidmarks and other witnesses.

Azenis are fine in the rain. They aren't the best, but there's no reason you can't use them, that careless driving is BS.

If he was hydroplaning, where would the skid marks come from?

Man if I ever need to kill someone, I'll make sure to move to where you are and do it. Just as long as the cops doesn't see me, I'll be alright.

Oh, I'm not trying to be a dick about the wreck. That's sad that you had your wreck. But **** happens, you have insurance, get another one. I had my first ITR wrecked and I wasn't even driving it and it was totalled. That pissed me off, but life goes on. We all do stupid things, just deal with the consequence. I'm pretty sure you can take your case to court. 6 points is 6 points too many if you ask me.

As for the tires go, I still use careful judgement in the rain with my new Azenis. I just don't trust them in the wet. When it rains, all I care about is getting from point a to point b safely.

no.. i'm only trying to figure out the legal issue, anyway, i'm pretty sure that any tire made street legal should work in the rain, how it will work is up to the driver and common sence, if cop wrote ticket based on the tire, and the tire had more than minimal thread required - then theres a chance to knock the points.. maybe take pictures to prove the tires are street legal and have enough thread. aren't they v rated? - there should be no problem running in the rain, not the worst tire for rain, but certaintly on the bottom of the list.

I think a traffic ticket is far less serious then murder

Why dont you call your local PD and ask them, if a cop doesnt see me violate a traffic law, and a witness tells him, can i get cited for it and see what they say

Where I live, you probably could. One time we were chilling at my friend's house and he was parked on the side of the road revving the **** out of his engine. Cop was around the corner, came towards us and cited him for wreckless driving. Went to court and they knocked it down a few points. LoL
