Default Need an opinion...To gut or not to gut!

Ive been thinking about it, and I wouldnt mind the idea of gutting out the rear of my car...

I was thinkin of selling the leather interior, and in return purchasing some nice racing seats. For those with no rear, or have sold their interior, how much should I expect? Its in good condition, very little cracking. I wana throw in a rear strut bar too *drool*

If you are thinking about it, then definitely gut it.

I gutted my rear area and put racing seats in...i love, especially because no more than one person can ask me for a ride somewhere. It saves you some weight if you're worried about that too, and gives you a ton of room if you ever need to transport any large items.

Depends on your priorities...

Do you want less weight, more noise, or is it just a mindset you're in?

Gutting = a little less weight (pull out your rear seats, they aren't as heavy as you'd think), a little more noise - which isn't bad, and no rear passengers.

Does that sound good to you? Then do it. Either way I think you should remove your rear seats and trunk carpet first, then see how you like it. Easy to put back in if you decide it isn't your cup of tea. Then, if you feel like going further, remove the rear interior panels. My advice is pull out the seats first, THEN decide if you want to remove the panels.

In that case I was thinking about removing the front and rear seats, but keeping the carpet

The look appeals to me for some reason *shrug*

If passengers need, they can sit on the floor

I've gutted out the back since about 2 weeks after I bought the car and have never looked back. However, I keep the oem mat laying out over the back, makes it look better.

I did what you're talking about

I traded the guy those front seats and $100 for my leather's and sold him the back for $100, made $200 and couldn't be happier with how the car is now...

Is it possible to mount that strut without removing the plastic(?) housing near the rear?

The rollcage made my rear seat useless but I didn't see a weight loss because of the ampboard I added later.

yes it is possible. Get a dremel, take out the two squarish looking inserts that ride just above the rear shocks, pop them off, dremel them out to the right size so that the strut bar wil fit, then put them back on, install the strut bar, and bam, your done.

I gutted my rear about a month ago. It is kinda nice, but it can get loud, especially with aftermarket exhaust. I gutted everything tho, the side panels, rear panels, seats, and mat, and all the trunk bottoms. I actually took it out for paint, so its going back in when its done. I bet you only lose like 10-15 pounds if that when you remove everyhting, proabably like 5-10 when you remove just the rear seats. Not worth it if you ask me. Its funny tho, cause when you take out the rear seats, they seem so chinsy like theres nothing to them, which basicly is it.

Dee: Do I see Carbing rear tower brace??

I gutted my backseat, carpet, and starting to remove some of the sound dampering tar. IMO, I can tell the difference when I'm low on gas.

I never fill my car up (when I'm in town) past 1/2 tank.

My friend who has a Type R noticed a huge difference when I'm on 1/8th tank and I dont have my tools in my car (which weigh just as much or more as my rear seat). He was like "holy **** your car got way faster!!!!? what did you do to it?"

I was like "nothing " lol

Oh, did I mention I dont have to haul anyone around by myself and my passenger anymore. I always had like 3 people in my car constantly. Now... Max passengers = 2

Why? You trying to pick up the hotties in your teg? Or you just cant stand the extra road noise?

Btw, I hit a rock on the highway the other day doing about 180 km/h (111mph) and that **** ******* rattled the back of my car and sounded like a gunshot going off inside my cabin. Scared the living **** out of me.

Does anybody have pics of what it looks like from the front doors? I mean like a camera shot of it from the front seats or something in front of the car so that you can see it from that angle.....thanks.
