no. it was actually 23850. so in addition to not depreciating, i guess it appreciated
limited edition will do these things....sometimes.

I know they at least hold their value better, but increase? I have a 97 R with less miles than this guy and mine is valued at 17,500. I've seen plenty of 2001 R's with a bunch of mods go for less.
Dude are u SICK. 24,000 LOL. Good luck with my R on the same page as yours going for 21875 w/ 25,000 miles. http://www.autotrader.com/find...ist=0

no offense, hooptie(and everyone else who posted to this effect), but why bother posting this? obviously this guy thinks his car is worth $24000, and intends to get it.. maybe he won't, but that's what he's starting at.. unless you are interested in it and would like to make him a lower offer, i'd say leave him be.. besides, some rich kid may have no problem paying this for his car..
your cars may not always appear on the same page.. a lot of people don't like to travel far for a car and you are on opposite ends of the east coast..
i actually like high sale prices like his.. 1) helps artifically jack up the price on our cars even further, 2) helps assure that when I try and sell 98-0106 for over retail, it will sell for over retail, 3) i'm always for a guy trying to make a few extra bucks if someone is willing to pay it to him..

Alright what ever you guys say. But first I was responding to HELP this guy. Its hard as hell trying to sell the car with a good price let alone a high one. If he wants to sell it sooner than later I'd lower the price otherwise it may be on there for quite some time. This is the WRONG FORUM to post this anyway and if you think that him selling his car for a high price is helping you sell you car at a good price its not. TIME is your only enemy when selling a used car. The more time that passes the more milage adds up and better cars come out. Look at the market now, for 24,000 you could buy a BRAND NEW WRX (23,500), Neon SRT-10 (19,999), countless better used cars, and for alittle more a STI or EVO. I'm just trying to help ya out.

right.. but there's still thousands of kids out there buying R stickers to put on their civics, integras, cavaliers, etc. because they dream of owning a hype r.. not rt-10 and WRX stickers.. and some of them slowly become able to afford one.. you can buy a lot of things for $24,000, but he's probably banking someone wants his car.. i'm sure he knows what the retail value is listed as, as well.. just leave him be..
and yes, time and mileage do detract from the selling price of a vehicle.. sometimes they are counterbalanced by mystique and rarity..
him selling his vehicle for over retail - well over retail - actually DOES help mine sell for a good price.. two reasons why.. 1) aren't KBB values based on averages of what a particular make and model are selling for around the country? presumably from DMV/Dept of Revenue sales tax information? if so, as i assume, then more people selling their cars for more money would raise the retail price of the vehicle. I know for sure Edmunds operates this way, but NADA does not.. 2) people, when buying or selling a vehicle, typically review all the ads they can get ahold of for used cars of the make and model they want.. this gives them a feel for what the cars are worth or are selling for.. more people selling their's for higher prices, makes mine cost a little more when i sell it..
you are definitely right about one thing though.. selling something for over retail or the honda-tech community's accepted price just doesn't happen here.. no one can hold their tongue when they see something that they think costs too much..

i agree with that, type r's are limited, besides book value its up to owners to keep the pricing up.. it will be more acceptable to ask $24K for the car if everyone else was selling for more. type r in perfect condition is woth extra money.

Honestly, how many times can you and your friends hijack threads with your own for sale ad?? It's unbelieveable.
I personally think BOTH cars are overpriced, but it isn't my car to sell, or price.

Dude, you haven't even had it listed for a week and you're saying you "can't" sell it?
I'd be very interested in it, but it's a bit far away.

When I sell my car I'm overpricing the **** out if it, I can't blame the guy
...living in a rich yuppie suburb does have it's perks. (Like being able to make a profit on used cars.)

hey, if he wants to list it for 50k, let him. the buyer will determine the price, not the seller. (by that I mean if the seller wants to sell it then it will eventually come to a price a buyer will pay)

I don't have a problem with people listing their asking price so high. That's their choice. But I do hate to see stupid descriptions like:
Oil change every XXXX miles.
Mostly highway driving.
Never been raced.
And I personally like this the most:
Hand washed once a week followed by a coat of high qualith Klasse wax.
I'm not saying that the seller is lying. But I just think that all these positive descriptions are BS as the buyer can hardly prove it.
Even tho I said those are BS description, I would most likely still write the same thing when I sell my cars.

I'm just stressing the fact that the paint was well taken care of and there is plenty of visual proff to prove that. I'm a fanatic when it comes to keeping the factory paint in mint condition. People like maintenance records because it shows the car was well taken care of in the time that it was owned. Does that affect the resale value of the car? Only the buyer decides, but everything helpes. As you said yourself.
