FI or ALL MOTOR? have $4,500 to spend help!
My goal is to get my gsr runing 12's mid to high 12's. be able to smoke them M5's. i know an NA setup will run me a furtune. But what would be better. Also it is my daily driver. this winter it is being put away so i can save money for next years race season. help me out. OH if i go turbo do i need to get rid of my ctr intake cam and put my gsr one back in. what would make lmore power. I know that if i do go turbo i need to get rid of the all famous V-TEC.
Thanks

go turbo
put stock cam back in but put camgears on to dial in more power.
u can keep vtec with turbo.
u should have money left over for dyno time and tuning
but not much

you can blow your engine all motor, turbo or supercharger if not setup properly. those people that tell you all motor is safer obviously arent going for the mad power setups.. because your gonna need a radical cam, cam settings, timing adjustments etc.. turbo and superchargers are the same way.. IMHO none of them have alot of room for error when doing major mods and upgrades.
Go superchager or turbo if you want the power and all motor if you like throwing your money away on something that will give you less of a power gain. I'm willing to bet you that for 4500 dollars i can put a basic turbo setup in a car and you can put an all motor setup in a car and I'll get more HP out of the turbo than you will...
If your really worried about reliability and maintinace.. dont mod your car with any major mods at all... I'm beginning to realize how much maintinance a FI car is.. and it's not pretty.
take your time to decided, but i think super/turbo is your best bet..and dont' waste the money on stupid stuff either...

Turbo GSRs are some of the best cars out there...VTEC and Turbo go hand in hand when tuned right...just get a pair of cam gears with the turbo and dyno tune and your set...you'll be in the 12 second range with slicks...
People usually say NA is safer then FI because there are less things that can fail and tuning doesnt have to be quite as precise.
For the $4500...Id probably go with a turbo kit for around $3000, spend $1000 on a Hondata and $500 on misc stuff...you might need a little more cash...but hell if youre already spending $4500..whats another $500?

If you want 12's with $4500 you pretty much have to turbo it. Why would you not want a turbo vtec though?
The reason i thought this is because i would think that the vtec would go against the turbo and = less HP.
So i should throw the stock cam back in?
GSRwBOOST: What turbo should I be looking at? And what mods should I do at the same time. Drag Gen. 3 kit, intercooler, upgrade blow off valve and at what boost?
Thanks all I am doing this.

Drag is the most bang for the buck.. if you have cash to get pistons and rods.. go for it.. but the basic kit is good for about 6-7psi on stock car.. after that, you better upgrade the internals and fuel..

The fi and na debate will go on for years. But i ask this question, who buys a honda to go 12 seconds? I love my gsr but never want to get 12's out of it. Turbo and na are basically the same but the difference i see is that you more room to screw up with all motor. If you make a mistake with fi your REALLY screwed where as with all motor it is easier to fix in most cases. Why not go with crvtec? You could break into the 12's all motor with 4500$. With it built right maybe even 11's on slicks. Just my .02$. Tim
