i've seen a couple around berkeley, and emerville in California. I've seen them on trucks getting delivered to the dealership, as well. Must say, it isn't extrodinarily great looking, but crap that big fat intercooler sure looks mean. No chance so far to see how I fair against one....(I already know i'll lose as of right now)

I just ran into Scott Mohler (N/A Neon runs 10.60's) at the Sunoco here. Little bastard has one as a daily driver. They sound pretty mean. Course I'm sure he got a nice little deal on his.

Let's just say I've seen some 7.3L PS trucks that easily do that.....well at least before the oem con rods were changed from forged to powdered metal.
All it takes is some carful building, an larger turbo, propane injection, and some ECM program alterations. It is strange to see a huge pick-up move that quick.

It is actually pretty fast for a 6500 lb truck. With my programmer on the big program I can beat a few cars. But it is for pulling our trailer, so I dont race. Much.

Another friend of mine bought one and is going to run slciks on it tomorrow night so we'll see what they can do

I ran 13.9 bone stock w/ a 2.2 short time in mine. Ive seen 13.8 bone stock w/ lowered tire pressure. ATP Turbo's SRT ran 12.9 w/ just slicks, 16 psi ( 12 psi stock) and a downpipe.

I can see that...

I run at 3000ft elevation my best time so far has been a 14.0@97.7....fawkin SRT-4 comes out and runs a 13.90 after a few shakedown/practice runs....but I am thinkin there has to be a few free mods on this one but who knows....

I will say if the drivetrain holds up....its not a bad deal....but I would still prefer a 1.8t GTI as I have seen a few here with chips/3" DP run the same times as this SRT-4 neon (albeit with a damn good driver on the race gas program)

2.4L + 16G = 12's when sorted out so I think the stock setup is more than enough for most street guys looking to be quick for cheap.

The funny thing is there are DSM guys who have 16G's on there cars and are running in the low 14's still....while there are some with 14b's running quicker....a true testament to the variance between tuning/driving abilities at the track FWIW

Most of the SRT guys are running 13.9-14.3 or so stock at the track. There was one modded one somewhere running a 12.9 on slicks with a race downpipe and boost controller.

There's a vid there too.

I used to run a Dodge diesel at Englishtown...We had a stock 5.9L block, stock head.. We upgraded the cjip, the injector pump, the compressor side of the turbo, the tranny and the coverter...at 8500 lbs. and automatic, it pulled 14.9's, low 15's copnsistently. We ran 35-40 psi. We had dual 4" pipes coming through the bed into chrome stacks... It was so cool to take that thing out and run next to single cammers light to loght. That truck was fun...

we did, w/ a ITR powered 00 Ek, stock vs stock, off the launch, civic no problem, off the roll, again civic no problem, on the freeway, civic no problem.

I've have seen an F250 turbo diesal lay down like 35Xwhp and 7XXwtq w/ only a "ram air style" intake that mounted in the front grill, a 4" streight pipe style exhaust and a 3-program chip. (stock, towing, power).

we can all say what we want about dodge, or how ugly neons are, and you know what...thats all true. Dodge no longer makes good cars, cept for the viper... The neons, they are ugly. Say what you want, but Dodge stepped up to the plate and built a tuner's Sport Compact. Out of the box this car is making 220/235. That is not shabby. Actually that is very good. 2.4L also, that is some serious room for block upgrades. This car was built purposely to upgrade and tune. How many OEM's are currently putting out stuff like this(in this price market) EVO - Yup, bit expensive though. WRX/STI, yup- still abit expensive. This neon is putting 220 hp to the floor for under 20k. I dont care what the car looks like, that is performance.. The mazda cars will be OK. no quite the power though...

All I am saying is that, for the price, the neon is one heck of a car. Big power, gears, lsd...all the things needed to go fast. Plus, in a years time there will be plenty of aftyermarket support. If you dont like them, at least get used to them, my prediction, they are going to be around for a while...

I still love my honda more though
