Charateristics of an OLD catalitic converter?
this is for my 90 ef si. The stock cat has about 170k on it. I read somewhere that:
-as a cat gets older the material gets brittle and fall apart inside of the cat., thus
can effect poor exhust flow and performance.
*Is it true? I mean if it's really hurting my performance then i'll just go and get a strait pipe at MufflerMAN for $35.
I don't think that a really old cat is going to be even screening/catching all the toxins from the motor as it should when it gets that old.(170k and 14years old)

My cat on my Civic started to make rattle sounds kinda like a popcorn machine, thats why I replaced mine.
My Integra smells like eggs from the exhaust, I am guessing my cat is dead on that car to.

Does your car move? A plugged cat will kill power. My sister's car wouldn't go up hills. replaced the cat and boom... no problems. In my case, it's my B16 breathing through an old *** cat and stock STD exhaust
