get a 12 volt test light and a wiring diagram. connect one end of the test light to the positive terminal of the battery. use the other end to probe all of the connectors on that circuit. if you've had any body work done or re-installed any interior panels recently start in that area to see if there's a pinched wire. otherwise, start at the tail lights and work your way up to the fuse panel. then try the dash connectors. if the test light comes on dim, and your dash lights come on too, then there's no short on that wire. if it lights at full brightness, then you've found the wire with the short.

i had that problem with my crx about 3 weeks ago. IT ended up being a wire behind the guage cluster that was being pinched between the metal frame and the dash board...it was a rather large part of the harness that was behind the cluster. pretty easy to see...check that and make sure it didnt wear a spot in on of the wires. It was small and stupid and really pissed me off. And i spent about 15 hours looking for what was wrong and thats what it was. Also check the grounds in the back on the tail lights.

adding larger amp fuses is no good...thats the reasons fires start...instead of the fuse blowing it will cuase heat in whatever is caussing the fuse to blow and could eventually start a fire if the conditions are right...so make sure you use the 10!

just hack into the red/black wire and wire a switch in. that's what my lazy *** did after a year of no taillights and 2 tickets.
