Back feels like its sliding?
Ok so i drive my R on and off depending on gas prices, weather...endless list. But this month its been type R month for me, WOOHOO. I've been driving to school mostly on the freeway and i like to test the handling when i get the road all to myself. But i've noticed that if i make a somewhat abrupt lane change the backend feels like its slipping a little bit. I cant remember feeling the car do that but before, although it could be that i just never tested it in this way. I checked the tire pressure and it was a little low, but after adjusting the pressure the feeling is still there. Im testing it from about 60 - 80mph, does anybody else feel the same around these speeds.

It's normal.
If you are interested to know how you can use this quality, start autocrossing or run some driving schools. Otherwise, try not to induce this to your car on the street. It could get you in trouble.

My first bit of advice would be that "quick" lane changing is for stunnas!
Seriously though, what is the point of fast lane changing??? You are feeling it slip out because you are jerking the wheel at 80 mph. We here do not think of fast lane changing as a test of handling capabilities, but I guess people will do what they want. I always laugh when I see people do that because they think it looks cool, but don't realize that it's dangerous.
Well there goes my rant.

Oh i fully understand/agree with you all that its a stupid move, that there is really no need to do it if i were to go to a track. But at the same time i would like to feel the cars reaction so i could expect if something sould arise. I've taken classes before and felt the car really step out once when i accidently lifted off the gas a tiny bit. Whoo was that a fast lesson learned. But im glad to hear that this is a normal feeling for others.
thanks
thanks

That would be throttle lift oversteer. Since itr's have fairly thick rear sway bars they are very suseptable to this and the feeling of the rear end wanting to slide around. Its to reduce understeer while cornering. Drive safe.

Do yourself a favor........take those so called "test" to the local autox event.

Thanks ITR21, seems like you are the only one who does not look down on me for saying i did this anywhere else but a track. Plus you actually answered the questions intelligently, with good info. If i had said "the back end feels like it slides a little above 60 while while i was on a track or autocross" would you all have come out and said the response that you did? I dont know if you all would have, i guess im just bothered by the fact that so many people on this board seem to assume that everyone one is a retard trying to be a "stunna." I can understand that you get stupid questions often (mine is a good example) and people who are displaying risky driving habits. But many of these people are testing the water slowly, not jumping in and drowning. They are not being dangerous by inching forward to see what their car and themselves are able to do. You dont have to answer people's questions with your own personal "stunna" view of who they are. I know i never post and dont really have any right to accuse people, but im tired of seeing people reply to questions that they dont really answer and instead copy/paste stunna all over the place. Stop using Stunna its driving me crazy!!! lol But really all of you who use it should cut back. Its like a drug for most of you, once you read it off some guys post you were hooked. Anyway thats my only problem with this board. So sorry if any of you dont understand where im coming from, i guess you cant see past the entrance of your cave.
Jesus christ guys, lay off him already. If you feel like bashing on people for doing a little spirited driving on the street why don't you goto the Kills Forum and lecture those streetracers. ITR21 is apparently the only one who knows how to post and not try to make the poster feel like ****. A simple, "yes itr's do that, and maybe you should try this out at a track instead" would have been fine instead of saying keep it off the streets dumbass.

"We here," is too general a term. I think it is a measure of mid speed stability and Car and Driver does a test in their handling section entitled, "emergency lane change manuever." This, to them, is a measure of a cars handling capabilities, and I believe it has merits as such.
To me an emergency lane change is very much like the first or last cone in a slalom. To my knowledge the FD3S RX-7 was the fastest ever tested in the manuever. But I think it should be used as it is titled, in emergencies.
It is much easier to practice what the ITR can do handling wise on the autox course where things such as curbs (or worse) don't jump up and bite you if you lose control
. I know from experience. And autoxing is a very good tool for teaching car control and extremely good at giving you a thrill. You should give it a try, you will probably like it.
Happy motoring,
Brian

I'm sorry you feel that way, but just because we might not like or agree with what we hear, it does not mean that it is bashing. I believe the advice itself that was given is good, although it seems that a lot of us need to refine our way of delivering the message. That would make it 100 times more effective.
edit: Cozmo Kraemer just made a perfect example on how to convey something effectively.

I don't disagree that this sort of driving should be taken to the track, but I do find it useless that after one person says "take it to the track" that numerous other members feel the need to beat it into his head. I am quite sure he saw it the first time.
I apologize for my earlier post. But the point I was trying to stress was that quick lane changes when unnecessary and at high speed could end up badly. You say you felt the car losing traction, and at 80mph this could make you end up in a wall. At the track or autocross a mistake will most likely not kill you. A test like this on the street could kill you, your passenger, or another person. I have no problem at all if you test your cars limits and there is nobody else that could get hurt, but when you bring it onto public roads, there is always that chance. Good Luck.
And yes Car and Driver perform the same test, but they don't do it in traffic with other lives at stake.

Thank you for your concern about me and others, you're right that this could end up very badly on a freeway and that at a track there is space made for such mistakes. Its a good point, i guess we all took something home tonight, as we should always learn. Thanks everyone, goodnight.
I don't mean to detract from the main thrust of your post, because to an extent I agree with you that some guys here can be a little rough with the "take it to the track, newb" line. Just as you have observed this phenomenon that bothers you, I will point a problem that I have with your reply:

I don't think you intended this effect, but this comment of yours appears to be laced with sarcasm. It also happens to be the knee-jerk response of a "stunna" (I am not calling you a stunna, just explaining why others that do not know you may label you that way) when someone in this forum conveys concern about performing dangerous moves on public roads. It's beyond a stunna's comprehension that a complete stranger TRULY CARES about his safety and the safety of others on the road. Caring for others' safety is such a foreign concept to the stunna, who is the stereotypical self-centered adolescent who doesn't give a #### about anyone else.
When the sarcasm is intended, comments like yours really irk me. Again, I don't think you meant anything by your comment, but just as you have observed how a statement of genuine concern like "take it to the track" can be misconstrued by the reader, so can statements that you have made.
Once again, I do not mean to offend you or make light of your opinion, but I just wanted to give you a different perspective to this thread from an older member.
