Default valve adjustment

When does honda reccomend the valve job on the 99 SI.
I know if you redline a lot or race, you should do it a bit more sooner.
I don't think the valves were ever done on this car.
Eversince i got this SI, i been stomping the **** out of it, man i'm telling you this car loves high rpms.

Lately i've been putting 80 miles daily on my car daily, want to do some maintaince when some dead presidents come to visit my wallet.

I think if you have more then 50k miles you should get the valves adjusted, but it may actually be required sooner.

every 80k miles......i would recommend that you do it if you're hearing any type of tapping sounds from the valve cover (use the srewdriver-stethescope method)

Car runs strong, no funny noises, or anything.
I want it to last, and not wanting to neglect maintaince.
I just raced a 93 integra, i dunno was it a ls or gsr, i think it was a ls, and left it by 2 cars, on the roll, and dead stop.

We have to adjust the valves on the SOHC and the DOHC after every race...they arent out a lot but they are still out...If you drive easy there shouldn't be a prob....And if you get good at adjusting you can do it in 15 or 20 min....

do them every 15k.. if you don't you'll eventually burn the valves.. but who needs valves when you're beating the **** out of it everyday..

I work at a honda dealership and it is recommended every 15k.. especially on the dohc vtec motors

not one person knows....

The owners manual states that you are to do it @ 30,000 miles... And that is it. Now if you do anything concerning the internals of the head you should obviously re adj the valves... But the owners man for a EM1 states that you should re adj the valves at 30k...

it's better that they are loose( i use this term loosely if you hear a ticking from the head region it's better than hearing nothing) than tight.. too tight and you'll get poor idle/skipping and if kept tight for too long burnt valves

not to sound noob or anything...is this cheaply done by a dealer? will they do a hybrid? i know when i took mine in for a possible recall they saw the intake on my stock d16 and freaked. how can i learn to possibly do it myself?

oh...i have 26k on my b16.

since i work at a honda dealership.. it would be best if you had the valve clearance specs with you.. this way techs don't get pissed off calling an acura dealership for gsr specs.. it makes their lives much easier. Of course doing it yourself is pretty straight forward.. kinda scary at first, but if you make sure you have the cam gear in the right position you should be set.

i think honda recomends checking the valves every 15-20k miles. This doesnt mean you must adjust all of them, but check them all to be sure. Also check the the rocker assy/ and cams to look for uneaven wear
