Mmmmm Comptech Goodness
At long last the ringing in my ears may go away. Anyone who's been in my car on the highway knows I'm not joking when I say I need to use earplugs on road trips. I've searched forever for an exhaust silencer to quiet down my 3" thermal exhaust, with no luck. A few days ago, I was ranting as usual about my deafening exhaust, and Trey (Asahi) must have taken it to heart. Without my realizing what was going on, word got back to Bob at Comptech, and today I come home from work to find a shiny, new Comptech exhaust silencer sitting on my porch. The fit/finish is very nice (duh, Comptech), and best yet, it is a very close fit in my exhaust. I think Mr. BFH can persuade it to fit just fine.
Now I'm not the sharpest tack in the barrel, but I'm starting to see a trend here. Comptech gave me a killer deal a few months ago on their aluminum flywheel (yes, it rocks). They were a major supporter of the ITR Expo. And now they send me a silencer, for no other reason than to try and help me out.
Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you to Bob at Comptech, and also to say that I appreciate the relationship that they have built with us ITR owners.

I think I saw a dyno once with power gained when they put the silencer in their comptech exhaust.
make sure you put loctite or something similar. it is easy for the silencer screw to unrattle

Good stuff Jim!! I will give Bob a pat on the back later today!
I thought maybe that silencer could be persuaded to fit the Thermal. FYI for everyone they sent him a sliencer to try on an exhaust that isn't even a Comptech system!!

Now Jim, everyone REALLY knows that the reason you brought ear-plugs to the Expo was my Olympic Snoring capabilities

That was BlueTeg's LS, he gained a few HP around the AEM hump. Most likely was just inconsistancies between dynos. The LS is producing a lot less HP than the ITR, so I doubt the reduction in exhaust tip is going to make much of a difference on a B18B.

Comptech does own. I've gotten a few free pieces from them as well after having an issue with a swaybar purchase (UPS related, box was destroyed and all hardware fell out). Anyways, I got the box thurs night, called em friday morning and they paid to ship out the replacement pieces, some shifter bushings and some other small stuff and paid for saturday delivery. If you treat those guys with respect they will treat you to some very very good customer service.
Actually, the best customer service I've dealt with in this industry by far.
