Front and Rear Lips for my EJ6 Hatch arrived. Need some advice. A few *Pics*
Edit: More questions: Why are 4 bolts and nuts included in the rear lip's hardware pack? Isn't four self-tapping screws enough to secure each lip? Where do the bolts go?
Everytime I post a pic of my car, I get comments like, "Get a lip." Well, I finally listened.
My Mugen-style front and CTR-style rear lips arrived today. A thank you goes out to slomo18b for guiding me to http://www.groupbuycenter.com in getting a good price on these pieces (~$125 shipped).
They are made of white ABS plastic and come non-painted. I'm on budget so I will be doing the paint and install myself. This is what I intend to do.
-sand plastic
-primer spraypaint
-white bumper spray paint
-clear coat spray paint
My car is taffeta white by the way.
Some questions. What grit sandpaper should I use? Any suggestions on how many coats of each paint I should apply? Should I even put on a clearcoat or will the clearcoat crack since the lip is flexible. No instructions were included. How many screws should I use to secure each lip and where should I place the screws?
Any input would be appreciated, especially from you guys who've did this install yourself. Thanks for reading this.
Some pics of the lips press-fit in place just to see how it would look on my car.

id go to an auto-specific paint store, most of them can match your paint code and pack the paint into a rattle can w/ the flex agent.. It will cost a few more bucks then dupli-color, but the end result will be much better.
If you go this route, ask them about what primers to use, some auto paint wont stick to the canned primer you get at auto stores, the paint will just run off like water.
looks nice, btw..

It'd be nice if it were that cheap. hehe But it was $125 shipped.
Thanks for the input and comments.

im actually surprised at how close the white plastic and taff white look, one of the main reasons i havn't bought lips was because i wouldn't have any money to paint them. is it really obvious? maybe the pictures do them justice.

beleive it or not, we don't drive EKs. EK is a japanese only chassis code. USDM 96-00 hatchbacks are EJ6.

Update:
I just finished painting my lips not too long ago. I only spent about $35 for supplies to get the job done; and figure I saved $150 for not going to the autobody place that painted my moldings.
Duplicolor creates Taffeta white (which is what my car is) but stoopid Kragen doesn't carry it. They had three whites I could choose from and I wanted to get this done today. Super white (Toyota), Frost white (Honda I think), and Arctic white (dunno). I went with Frost white because it seemed closest to Taffeta white.
The end result isn't perfect but I plan to get my whole car repainted in the future anyway. I'm happy with it and besides, I can use some of that money I saved towards getting me my Mossberg or Remington 12 gauge.

There are EJ6, EJ7, EJ8 etc. There are also EJ coupes and sedans. My mom, for one, has an 98 4 door LS civic which is an EJ6. My 99 civic hatch is an EJ6.
