I'm so agravated right now!!!!!!!!!!

So my car's 3rd gear syncro is grinding. Common issue.

Well I take it to honda they test drive is and can't find any problems. So I take the damn mechanical for a ride and get it to grind at 7000 rpm. Well I was thinking okay cool. Usually I can get it to grind at 4k rpm, but today it wouldn't?? maybe not hot enough.

So we get back the the dealerhship and the mechanic says it was doing that because I was speed shifting and the car isn't suppose to be ran that high (red 8100). Dipshits at honda didn't even know what it redlined at, kept asking me and ****. So they call the warranty place and try and get a claim, but the warranty place won't give them money unless their is a broken part. Well the put *** mechanic doesn't think their is a broken part. He said himself that he won't say that there is a failure. WTF .

So I agure with the manager for while. They call back the warranty company to send an inspector out. Warranty company won't do it. So I'm screwed. So now they say if I can get the grinding to happen at 4,000 rpm then they will fix it. WTF why the RPM ******* matter if its below redline within operating limitations. Then they start asking if there is any modifcations. I tell them intake, exhaust, lowers. Thats all I have. So now I gotta drive it around until it starts grinding at 4k agian then take their dipshit mechanic for a ride agian.

Whats the website that tells you how to deal with warranty issues? Someone posted it a while back.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Cliff note - getting fucked by honda on extended warranty claim.

 

same thing sorta happened to me... I brought my car in because my clutch was making a squeaking noise when it was being engaged... the mechanic couldn't find any problems with it, so then I took him on a drive, and was able to repeat the problem. They replaced my clutch under warranty for free at 18k miles Good luck with your situation.

I'm going to try another dealer, but don't want to pay $85 each time to have the mechanic look at the damn car.

They knew I was pissed off. He kept trying to ask me if I raced it. I'm like dood if i wasn't a teenager you wouldn't be asking me this ****. Then he makes up some excuss. god this is bullshit.

 

nice url!! i would have got crazy w/ the manager. If he/she didn't help, I would have asked to speak to their boss. Unfortunitely, the only way to get things done, is get really, REALLY pissed off. Or another option, is by ripping that tranny apart. Power shift the mother, and just get a brand new tranny. umm, maybe not the best idea, but hey it's an idea.

 

I'll prolly just put in my GM syncromesh and see if that work.

For some reason my tranny will only do it at 6krpm plus, it use to do it at 4k. So I dunno. ******* trannys.

 

screw that pull a copy of the TSB take it with you tell them to FIX it!
talk to teh service manager if the tech's refuse then if all else fails file a complaint with America honda directly....
http://jdmfan.com used to have the TSB but i can't get to it right now... my isp sucks...
you can then prove that the part is defective from honda and they made a new better one to fix the problem...

Also that TSB is only for Civic Si's. to I don't think that will work for my teg.

 

boy do i feel like an idiot.... i did not even think twice, almost everytime i have heard about someone having synchro problems it's been an si and i totally was not thinking about this being in the integra thread....

B4 i had the 92 civic and my 90 teg i had '00 si which i had the syncro fixed under warrenty...

I had a squeeky clutch that Acura refused to fix under warrenty. I created quite a fuss there but to no avail. So I called Honda of america and filed a complaint to them... I think the last thing i said was "If I knew i was gonna get shitty service like this i would have bought a Toyota"

Aparently the dealership that I complained about was some specially reguarded dealership. and it tarnished their record. Sometimes when i would go back there Id swear they had like this pop up screen on their computer that said "Do everything you can to make him happy"

Call or email Honda of north america. They will pull the dealerships head out of their ***.

 

I wrote a letter to American Honda Motor Co.

We'll see what happens with it. If I do not hear from them in a few weeks, I'll call.

Do you have their number by chance? The ones I have are 1800-999-1009 and 1800-382-2238

 

I think I found the # in the owners manual.

why not keep driving hard and wait until the problem gets worse? keep grinding it...it will eventually do it at 4k, 3k, 2k, etc. then you got your case

lol I guess your right..hahah... it use to do it at 4k, now today it won't.. .. I think when it gets hot out it will grind more.

I planed on getting a turbo kit so I wanted to get this fixed right away, as its been doing it for about a year now. I don't have fund for the turbo yet anyways so I guess I'll wait.

I'm still gonna raise hell with honda though.

 

damn man , i egt my trannies repalced on the ohouse every time i break them .
if he wants to hear it grind , just kill the gear the rest of the way and take the gamble if you want , id rail that **** in 3rd and just kill it and then say since they didnt fix it then , the problem progressed and caused more probs and you want a new gearbox.
the guys at honda know i race, **** some of thme work at the track . just gotta know how to get your way with them , if they give you probs, give thme probs, they will cave in .

 

Honda dealers are a pain in the ***.

When I had my warrenty, they didn't want to replace my clutch slave cylinder because I had an intake. When asked how the intake could effect the slave cylinder at all the mechanic made up some BS reason along the lines of "The extra are puts more stress on the seals of the clutch components".

I wasn't having it, and eventually got them to replace it for free. Basicly talk to the highest person that you can, if the mechanic is being a dick ask to see his manager, etc. Mention that you or one of your family members was going to be buying a honda/acura soon but you are going to tell them not too.

If you do want to try the fluid way, I have a slight grind in 2nd and syncromesh helped a little bit. I am going to try adding some quality climbing agents, which are supposed to help as well, since it does still grind in 2nd durring hard shifting.

 

ok so wait , i have A 94 gsr with 99 k mils , it grinds alot , what can i do , my acura dealer is GAWEY as hell , so what tsb is there and what can i do , i really just want it fixed , but i dont wanna have to pay for it , i want it for free from honda they fucked up so they should fix it . . . . . it happens in 3rd and 5th gears depending on the day it changes on what rpm it grinds . .. i did the axis spins with trays on my rear tires and i red lined 3rd and hit 4th hard , ever since then 3rd gear doesnt grind half as bad . . . honda needs to fix it . . . .

 

a 94 with 99k ? they aint giving you nothingunder warranty, unless you bought a super extended warranty, and if so it wouldnt be thru honda prob , and those warranty companies you get for used cars are even worse
