zc install question?
OK- so I wasted sooo much of my time yesterday w/ my GF's dad trying to get my DOHC ZC in my hatch. I spent Saturday evening disconnecting stuff from teh A6- liek the wiring harneww & all of that good stuff so that we could pull it out Sunday morning & get the new one in. We decided the leave the tranny in teh car & keep it help up w/ a jack, we put in a new clutch assembly & as we were putting in teh ZC we could'nt get the motor to mate w/ the tranny so the teeth on the inner hub of teh clutch got f__cked up. My GF's dad decided that it would be a good idea to take out the motor & take the clutch off & then put teh clutch on the tranny to straighten out the teeth- well he hammered the clutch on the tranny & now it's stuck
he is going to buy me a new clutch disc, but what is the easiest way to do this? should we drop the tranny? i am soooo frustrated! I knew this wouldn't eb done in like 2 hours, but damn- we spent most of yesterday trying to get this to work & now my clutch is messed up & stuck on the tranny so my tranny may be fone if we can't get the disc off & I am like $1500 into this project & my car is just stitting in a garage w/ two motors laying next to it---urgh! please give me suggestions. sorry for the long post, I am just frustrated

so...your tranny is still bolted to the car? i never heard of anyone doin it that way...but thats how v8 guys put in motors
and he is someones dad meaning he is older and prolly has done it that way before...the easiest thing i would do is get the tranny outta there line it all up on the ground...bolt the tranny to the motor...then do the swap.

thanks- that's what I thought. and, he is a domestic guy- he is a mechanic, but he doesn't work on imports except for his daughter & me, so he is not used to a honda engine bay. damn domestic's
j/k- oh well, I guess it will only make it that much sweeter once we get it in- all the drama keeps it interesting

When I did my swap I put the whole thing tranny/engine in together. I had to take the tranny off the D15 though and drop that through the bottom because I couldn't get the shift linkage off. But supposing I could have I would have taken that out with the tranny on it also. Just remove all the mounts, bring the engine forward and up and you should have no problems getting the entire thing in and out.

Those aren't condos, they are town houses.
I have an air compressor but it often becomes more of a burden than a help. So I did the swap with just hand tools.
Also I took of my intermediate shaft when putting back on the tranny so that it didn't get in the way.
