it almost has to be.. since our OEM stereo is so bad.. hell, the one in my 99 Civic EX was better..

i don't know if it's plug and play or not though.. would be cool if it is..

I highly suggest going aftermarket. I wouldn't waste the cash on an s2k headunit.

S2K unit is the same are the same as the Civic units. They do have that optional harness for the dash controls though.

edit: If anything, go with the Accord double-din 6CD in-dash changer. Yoshi uses one.

Yeah almost any cheap Alpine or Kenwood dominates OEM headunits.

Look around for some Open box items at Best buy or Circuit City and you can prolly get away with something for under 100 bux.

The S2k deck is damn close to the Civic Si deck. Only difference is the S2k deck has a bit more power and I think sounds better then the Si deck. I have had both and the I like the S2k deck (which I have now) a ton better.

My kenwood kdc-x759 has a cool feature that when you turn off the ignition the face flips around and there is just a blank black face that is visible.

you might be able to get an extra wiring harness than just splice the wires in.
splicing would only take 15 or so minutes ifyou use crimp connectors. you will need to get a s2k helms manual to find out which wires do what.

What do you need to make it work?

I'm just exploring the idea of having an OEM amber unit.

It's called D-Mask + wonderful invention/feature. Usually doesn't last that long.

I have a Kdc-X815 and it's over 2.5 years old. EVERYONE That I know that had this unit, mind you this is a MSRP $450.99 deck back in the day , has either had their D-Mask + crap out on them or the deck totally went out. I'm proud to say mine is still working like new!

sorry, random moment. Move along.

Nice pic yoshi. If it's just a harness, doesn't seem that bad.

The S2k headunit is much better than ours...I saw somewhere that it is 35x4 (I think). My brother said I could have his if I would give him a little cash on an Alpine. Anyone know a good place to find an S2k harness?

How much do s2k headunits go for?

I heard there is a difference on 02+ headunits.

Just get the amber alpine one, jeffery has it and i saw it in person.

It flows very well our interior, its nice amber.. not orangy..

and the good this about it is... its WAY better than any stock headunit.

Evrything needs tuning and so does sound... Alpine has the best "tuning" capabilities for a headunit, only the good chit for our R's.
