MPFI and ZC questions
ok well this week i hope to get my 89 DX running and i will be doing a MPFI conversion while its out. I just want to make sure everything i'm doing will be ok.
For the conversion i will be using a y8 manifold?(came from 92 civic DX) and i want to know if i can use those injectors that came on it? i know they are OBD-1 but is there a way to make them work? I got the resistor box and ECU off a 90 civic 4dr EX and the dizzy off that too.
When i was at the junkyard I saw a honda motor there but i didn't get a chance to ask the guy what it was. I know its been there awhile and when i finially look at it, it didn't have an engine code? its like nothing was there. it looked pretty complete my friend thinks it might be a ZC motor, it is DOHC but i'm not sure. So my question is, how do i identify a ZC motor?
thanks,
Jon

A y8 manifold is from a 96-00 EX, 92 DX I believe is D15B7.

yeah teh 92 dx is the d15b7
the only dohc non vtec motors are the zc, b18a, b20.
someimte u can look around the engine to tell what it is, like on my b18a on the intake mani and the head it says pr4, and the ecu used in hte ls is the pr4 so i know those parts for for hte ls. maybe u could look on the motor and see if u see something like that.
but if it is a b18a i would take it becuase u only need like an additional 1000 or so to make it run.

thanks yeah its a b15b7 manifold so this will work?
injectors i guess i will pull those off a integra from that year. i have plently of wire harrness' so i can jack the plugs from on of them.
As for the ZC engine, i'm pretty sure this thing didn't have a ID panal. nothing was there at all? It was DOHC MPFI motor looked kinda old. I found out you can indentify a ZC engine by the valve cover mounts, they are located on the sides and not in the middle? Is there any other ways to tell? and how will i know which has more power then the other?

what do u mean i will pull off a integra from taht year, explain this better.
umm the zc has a sensor on the end of the cam which is that crank angle sensor, its ususaly in the dist, but if it has it on the cam then its a zc. like i say, look on the block, it should say what motor it is on the head and on the intake mani

doesnt the zc (since its from japan) have pm7 written every where while the domestic integra has PG5 or 7 cant remember, . i think thats right , correct me if im wrong
Also every Honda engine has the engine code on a flat rectangular area, but a lot of times if the engine is old it is super grimey and the grime will cover up the engraving on the block.
turned out to be a stock 88 tegy motor, this had no ID panal. i had the guy look it up in the computer to tell me what it was. once again no ID panal in front?
