Default God DAMN IT!!

I backed into some T-Bird while parking tonight, and have a small rip in my bumper, in addition to some ever-so-slight dislocation. Why the **** did they paint those bumpers black underneath the yellow??

If i'm not mistaken, the bumper is blow molded kinda like a big rubbermaid garbage can. It's painted over whatever color the car is.

you are correct, i work at a body shop, whenever we replace bumpers they are black plastic, and then we have to prep and paint em...its a bitch, they should just have replacements painted and crap already...oh well sorry to hear what happened

I always wondered why they dont do that here.
In japan, all the plastic pieces from the dealer are prepainted.

Well factor in the average life span of a JDM car and the fact that they seem to take better care of there vehicles. Now factor in the average life of a US car and the way we take care of car's plus smog industrial fallout acid rain ETC and you will realize that in Japan a car is not on the road long enough for the effects of paint fade and what not to take its toll, in the US we dont wash enough we dont wax enough and we dont garage.
