Help me beat my friends is 300
Hey guys my friend just bought an is 300 5 speed very quick ....i can keep in front all the way untill 3rd gear after that is like poof nothing my fourth gear is week very week what can i do to improve my top end speed...i have a 96 civic ex with your basic's cam gear intake exhuast act clutch , i was thinking eaither headers or a vtec cam for the next move!!!!!! yay or nay

OK ask your self this , why do any of you mod you car , obviously to go faster and be faster then other cars. being able to make fun of your friend bkuz your honda beat his lex is just a plus...

NO! we mod and "hook-up" our cars because it is a hobby. we take this **** serioulsy. we enjoy lookin good , goin fast, and whippin ***. but there is no reason to purposely make ur car faster just to beat a lex......whoooo! i can beat a lex in my cavy, but i dont care.....there is always someone out there with somethin better or quicker. what are u gunna do??? make ur car fastr than everyone?

seriously i dont mod my car to be faster that other cars. i mod my car to turn and stop better then other cars. in a straight line our cars stock aren't really going to win, they may win against some cars but those really dont matter. why not modify your car in an area where it can really improve?

Please refrain from using "we", some people have a hard enough time speaking for themselves, but I would rather someone not speak for me personally to make their point seemed weighed towards another.
I do this strictly for me. I like experimenting with my car, modifying parts here and there to see how the car reacts to it. Pushing it the limit with whatever budget I have planned for myself. I don't care about who it looks good and/or bad to same goes with engine power. I have my own perception of things and whatever reason a person changes his or her car I will leave to them. I have other things to worry about.
To the original poster: It sounds as if you have already started "some" work on the head already, you might try looking into a port and polish as well as 3 angle valve job on the head. An aftermarket cam gear doesn't necessarily have to be used. For the cost, I am not going to suggest getting an entire head package, but instead a intake manifold as well as larger bore throttle body to match it. If beating an is300 is your goal go for it, soon after the goals might change to something else.
