Default Thoughts about a 98 Suzuki GSX-R600?

I am thinking of getting one in this year, I just wanted to know what everyone thinks of this bike, if you have had one in this year feel free to express your likes and dislikes about the bike.

MMmmm... not fuel injected...

Can't really say the style is outdated b/c the Gixxer hasn't changed much fairing wise.

Still a great bike, wouldn't mind grabbing one.

00> Are fuel injected FYI, don't know how big of a deal that is to you, but it's the only thing I can think of that differentiates it from the newer models.

If you can get a good deal, get all over it.

Thayne, like I said, just keep your eyes open. My friend picked up a 00 Gixxer 600 for $2k. If consmetic damage doesnt bother you, you can really find a good deal. I'm over the "OMG my bikes been down" phase

What do you all think of a salvaged title bike?? Is it the same as a car?

Depends. The salvaged title could mean that the bike really is messed up - tweaked frame, bent forks, etc. On the other hand, I've heard that some insurance companies will "total" a bike because it doesn't want to pay for expensive fairings. In that second scenario, the bike can be purchased, but will be saddled with a salvage title.

The ramifications of having a real messed up bike would be worse than if you were in a car (not to say a salvaged car is safe...).

With regards to the GSX-R question, I personally bump my knees on the part of the fairing that's closest to my knees everytime I put my feet down. I suppose it's not something that really affects the performance aspect of the bike, but it's something that would be on my mind, which would affect my performance on the bike.

I found a 98 White and Blue one for $3750, comes with two jackets, and two helmets (probably good cause my gf is going to want to ride on it as well), never been dropped either. Too bad I don't have the money right now or I would ****** it up.

That sounds like a pretty good price. What else do you know about the bike? Y'know, don't worry about that extra stuff sellers throw in, unless it fits you. You shouldn't have to pay for what you don't need.

Yeah I know. I am going to try to call the guy this week about it just to find out more about it, I emailed him and he gave me his number so I will find out about it. But I really want to get this bike, I was talking to my GF like an hour ago about it and she is just a stoked about it as I am.

Thayne, used helmets are not worth anything. You never know if they've been dropped, etc, I would buy brand new helmets

The 98's were a pretty good year for the suziQ 600... I didn;t read your whole thread, but I am not a big fan of salvaged titles... You really just never know what you are getting even though you think you are saving money... Ever had a tank slapper at over 100mph because the frame was bent?

You could have a tank slapper on a brand new bike, lol.

Alot of people don't like the fuel injected bikes. The carb'd bikes were alot smoother on and off the throttle. Some bikes are still twitchy like that.

Salvage titles scare me a bit. Yeah just never know the whole story. Plus, resale is a bitch. Most people want a virgin, never been down bike... I did.

Yeah your probably right on that, but the jackets will be cool. I called about my job today and it looks like I have a very good chance of getting it. Construction is going to own my *** this summer, but oh well the pay is really good!
