B18b in philly...anyone know where to get one, cheap??
Hello fellow Honda-tech members. I'll cut to the chase. I spent this saturday on the phone for 2.5 hours trying to find a b18b to transplant into my 2000CX. I was able to find a complete swap for $2,200, but from what I've read that's a bit pricey. Does anyone in the philly area know of a reputable salvage yard or shop that can be contacted to find this swap at a decent price? Thanks in advance.
Side Note: When I called around this weekend people gave me a really hard time regarding this swap. I had to start lying about why i needed the parts. I told them I owned an integra that I crashed up and that I was trying to salvage some parts to put into my new civic. Geessshhhh...what's the big deal?! You would think they're under CIA surveillance.

I got in contact with a guy named Dino from B&B AUTO BODY PARTS INC.. He was very helpful and got back to me in a timely matter. He actually gave me a follow up call today. He offered me the complete swap (I told him what parts I needed) for $2,000 and he's willing to price match. I'm going to try to go up there this weekend to see the goods. Hope this helps guys...
Please post more shops, numbers, info. if you've got it...BUMPITY BUMP!!

I live like 15minutes from Philly and I will keep a look out for you. I know of one place off the bat but he will probably be to expensive. You should take a ride up to where I go to college at. My buddy just picked up a LS engine with 9,000K on it for $400. Oh yeah don't pay anyone to do a swap do it yourself and save yourself alot of money s**t if I have time I will come help you out.
finding a good place and buying more then one swap sounds like a plan
where did your friend get that engine for so cheap??

as for the install...check out the shop in my sig. they do almost anything...auto to manual, obd conversions, and they LOVE building motors. i've seen install prices from $600 up depending on the car. they get motors from IAS and i know they don't have to greatest prices...but you get what you pay for. my swap was so complete i even got the fuel pump from the 00 si my transplant was from.
one more thing.....called my friend John who does honda salvage and he can get the b18b swap for around $1700...if interested send me an im

I'm glad our salvage yard has a 500whp civic. And he sells us whatever we ask for. Ls come a dime a dozen down here.

I was just down at a few salvage yards last week and I think two or three guys had them. They were auto but you may be able to pick up something for relatively cheep. Check out the places on Passayunk (spelling) Ave.
how many times does a dime come in a dozen. That many times. My buddy has 1 for sale http://www.stupidfast.com.
I go to college in Northeast PA, where everyone drives cavilers and sunfires. And they hate honda's which is good and bad. They sell foreign engines for real cheap in that area because know one wants to buy them so when they do find a buyer they let it go for cheap just to make more room for the american iron. Oh yeah I'm always down for a meet.
