Default 45 offset on a civic?

16X7 with a 45 offset good for n EG ? or would 40 be better?

40 would be better on a 16

45 is good for 15's.

I have 17x7 with a 45 offset on my 94 Civic coupe. I've had then for 5 years no rubbing. If you are slamming your civic get 45 offset if your going to lower it 2 inch's or less do a 40 offset.
