Default OT: my opinion on JDM Front End

Lately, I've seen quite a few JDM Front End Integra's (some non-type R's) in Vancouver. I asked myself why I haven't done it myself, since I know I have the financial resources to get it done if I REALLY wanted it. Here's the answer I came up with:

The JDM Front End is better looking than the USDM Front End but to me, the concept is similar to putting a body kit on my car; except it's a VERY expensive body kit. My car's main purpose is performance and to deprive it of coilovers and quality bolt-ons and cams in favour of cosmetic purposes would be unreasonable.
If I had an incredible amount of money to spend, I would definitely do it. Until then, I would continue to think of a JDM Front End as an overpriced body-kit that is one of the last thing on my "to do list".

The safety issue regarding HID's should be disregarded as many people have HID's on their USDM Fronts as well

my 2 pennies , thank you for your time

one time some neighborhood kids stole my favorite bike. It was a mini GT Performer, it had a front plate with my #28 on it and everything. I loved that bike, i used to jump it everywhere. So when these kids took my bike, i was really devestated. I started to cry telling my dad about the thiefs that took my bike. Eventually i got my bike back and my dad lectured me not to cry like a girl especially over something so stupid.

for me JDM is just unique, that's why people want it !
like people in Japan wans USDM front end or mark instead of .
just coz they dont have much here that's why people want it.
bet you if all teg comes with JDM front end, then you'd see people try to get four eyes front. just coz it's something special not everyone has it.
JDM no biggie, my car is Acura not Honda so i'll stay with USDM front

I remember the GT performer i had the pro perfomer myself and yah i wasn't the only one on in the neighborhood after that. but yah i agree, the jdm conversion is basically a big expensive bodykit and since the kits are getting cheaper i think a lot more people can afford it.

I had to go to the doctor because I was in pain. I said doctor, it hurts when I do this. He looked at me and said, then don't do that.

The moral of the story is that it is your car, do what you want. If you don't like what others do, that's ok. Just don't be an *** talking down on the preferences of others just becuase they don't match the beliefs you have.

Oh yeah, IBTR.

I'm getting tired if seeing Kouki ('96~) DC2 fronts over here so I'm gonna stick with the Mr. 4-eyes fronty!

actually shouldn't there be a safety concern with the JDM rebar? I know that markpaco posted a thread about how to use the USDM rebar with the JDM bumper... something about not being able to participate in some certain autocross classes because of the front end and how it doesn't pass US safety tests?

Who asked you for your opinion on the JDM front? Why the hell do I care what you spend your money on? If you do the front, great, if not, then please don't bitch and whine about not having enough money to do the conversion and also performance mods, because this is what your post sounds like!

While I do think the JDM Front End/Accord front is retarded (oh no, I posted my opinion too ) the only safety issue with the JDM OEM HIDs is the cutoff line of the light. This can (and should) be fixed as it can easily blind other drivers. HIDs in USDM housings (properly aimed) won't blind anyone.

For those that are bitching when he posts his opinion without being asked for it, go look at other threads and you'll find the same thing. This is a public forum and people can post whatever opinions that want to post as long as it's not against the ToS.

nobody asked me for my opinion... i just gave it myself
if you don't care how i spend my money, great, shut up and don't read my thread
in my orginal post, there was NO (NOTHING WHATSOEVER) BITCHING OR WHINING AS YOU SAY...the only bitching and whining i read is from you

I know Reid will not lock this post because I was only giving my own opinion and I was not trying to offend anyone...apparently, some people with JDM fronts got very defensive...I say whatever I feel as long as it doesn't offend anyone and you do whatever mods you wanna do now shut up

OEM or not, it IS a body kit.

It isn't unique. Maybe it used to be unique in north america, but it certainly isn't any longer.

Do what you want, but just because the JDM honda integra looks the way it does, it doesn't change the fact that its just a body kit over here. Do what you want, it looks cool, but I wouldn't blow that much money on solely appearance.

Anyhoo, who cares. To each his own, right?

let the truth be heard hear first.

dont waste money on an overpriced bodykit.

wait, weve been saying that for years now, but i forgot the ITR owners are immune to this ideology

Why the sarcasm? Why are you lumping 'all' the R owners to the same generalization?

Half the R owners like it, half don't, that's a fair generalization.

Who cares, these threads always turn into fights.

If you have 5k or more to spend on some fenders, hood and a bumper, fine.

To each his own, like everyone has already said.

Sorry Chris N

This is to the dude above Chris N . Ummmmm.... coming from an ITR owner and a JDM front owner. If I have the money to do motor mods, appearance mods and track worthy mods all at once does that mean that I'm wasting my money? For one, I got the front end for free as I'm sure many others here have. Don't be so quick to make generalizations about people whom you don't even know. If I want to spend my cash on my car and want to disperse it evenly among all aspects of the car, what is it to you? Are you jealous?

Note that I am absolutely positive if you had enough money to waste you wouldn't be building a beater with a nice motor. Don't kid yourself. Some people have a lot of money and choose to do the whole car. Some people have less cash and want to do their motor first. That's fine with me in either case, but don't talk as if you know everything.

Exactly. Some Integra owners just crash their cars and end up getting a JDM front through insurance.

Yup. Some dumbass spins out on the free way and hits me. He doesn't have insurance, so he pays for my front. Note that if I had to shell out the five grand from my own pocket, I would still have the US front. I figured that my car was going to be in the shop either way, so I might as well get the front that I think looks better.

Agent:

I asked if you are jealous because your first post makes it seem like you have something against us "Type-R owners who don't know the ideology behind not buying expensive body kits"

That is exactly what you said is it not?

Oh and yes I'm still a kid, but at least this kid has the sense not to make a gross generalization about a population of people that have different interests and different needs. But oh yeah, I'm just a kid, that makes me so much less knowledgable than you. Ummmm...yeah.

And if you could read, I wrote everything clear and with proper punctuation. Someone crashed into me. I don't know where this "Learn how to drive" crap falls into place, but I think you need help dude. Stop hating on the people in this forum just because you think you know everything. I already said that I would rather have a nice built motor over a show car if I was to have one or the other. But is it my fault for having money to spend on both? I greatly apologize for wasting my money and insulting you. Are you happy now?
