Default Cleaning Valve cover lettering

What is the best way to clean the lettering on a valve cover. I have tried scrubbing it with a brush and various cleaners but its not comming off. What is the best way to get it back to looking new?

I used a fine grit sandpaper, and i "wet-sanded" the letters...then the polish to shine it up! I did this when I cleaned my motor, and they turned out pretty good! I wish I had a before picture...but before the letters where kinda "grey" with no luster...
after pic

good luck

I tried Mother's one time and it got all down in between the letters and stuff and came out kinda nasty.
